In fact, there were existing Court Actions in nevada and also in pennsylvania and now theyve added to that in michigan and more court action in pennsylvania to try to get the observers in and to try and stop the vote counts. This by the Trump Campaign, the Biden Campaign say they have lawyers ready to try to stop this. They think its unwarranted. Meantime, President Trumps Team Including his family says they believe that the votes that are being counted, some of them, arent legitimate. They are trying to cheat us out of it because they know its their only path to victory. Not a single republican has been able to look at any one of these mail ballots. They could be from mars as far as were concerned. Every vote is going to count. Im going to fight like hell to protect the vote of every pennsylvanian. Pennsylvanias Governor Tom Wolf promising theyre going to count every single vote. Our latest update from there this morning is that theyve got 800,000 votes to go. Meantime, back here in wilmington, the biden team says that they have lawyers on standby. They are ready to go to court because there is absolutely nothing wrong or inappropriate about the vote counting. Its just taking a while because weve had a Record Number of people involved in this election. Back to you. A lot of people casting their votes. A lot of votes to be counted, tracie. I want to bring in scott mcgrew now. I know this race down to arizona, nevada, georgia, pennsylvania. Talk us through all of this. Sure, happy to. Good morning. Well start with pennsylvania which says its got another set of ballots. Remember the federal courts ruled that pennsylvania can accept legal and legitimate ballots for nine days so long as they were postmarked before election day. So, that case went all the way up to the Supreme Court because it tied on that ruling, it affirmed a lower courts ruling. Those ballots absolutely do count. We always knew pennsylvania would take a long time. We always suspected the vote would swing. We were talking about that last week. Anybody who is surprised that mailin ballots, which are counted last, are swinging races towards biden should not be surprised. Biden encouraged his supporters to use mailin ballots. President trump discouraged their use. Lets take a look at georgia. Georgia remains too close to call. You can see the pattern of urban voting and rural voting. Georgia used to be the state that republicans could always count on but it could go either way. Now, that may not turn out to be important. Georgia or pennsylvania, if biden can hold on to the leads out west. The combination of nevada and arizona would put him over 270. Nevada says it will have an update on the count at 9 00 a. M. Our time. It earlier promised to count last night. Secretary of state said he misspoke blaming the lack of sleep. Were also expecting an 8 30 a. M. Press conference from the trump administration. Arizona interesting our nbc decision desk says its too close to call. The only opinion that counts for us is our own experts and its too close to call. So, thats why when you look at other News Agencies might have a different number. Thats why. We are being very conservative with our estimates. Its better to be right than it is to be first. So, also a good reminder that everything youre seeing youre seeing is preliminary. The votes will be certified by states later. In the case of wisconsin, it sounds like a recount because the vote is so close. Speaking of numbers, there was a tweet that i want to show you claiming michigan had counted 128,000 ballots. Every single one of them was for joe biden said the tweet. Well, it turns out that was a typo made by an election official who later corrected it. This twitter user later corrected his own tweet, tweeting that out. But by then it had really gone viral. Now you may be alarmed to hear someone in michigan made a typo. At least publicly facing computer screen appeared to give biden 825,000 votes. Those votes never existed. Never counted. The same goes for a news media when the Network Makes a call on a state, it is an estimation, it is not the actual thing. So, keep that in mind as we continue to go. Only a state secretary of state can certify a vote, marcus. Good to know. Scott, jumping back to the lawsuit that was filed by the president to stop the counting in michigan, georgia and pennsylvania. Talk about whether trump has really the grounds for that. Well, theyre not being real specific about the wrongdoing, are they . The actual wrong doing. You hear them talking about cheating. They dont provide any proof. The lawsuits actually when you look at them are not as powerful as theyre making them sound. The president s attorney is making them sound. I actually made kind of a little list for you. Lets take a look at it. In pennsylvania they want republican observers to be allowed to see the vote count close up. Kind of an argument over where people are standing. They also want the u. S. Supreme court to rethink its earlier ruling about how long pennsylvania can accept those legal and legitimate ballots. Michigan same thing. Where do people stand. Also keep in mind that it appears biden has already won michigan. Georgia a lawsuit to force Election Officials to remind election workers not to process ballots postmarked after election day and in nevada, concerns about how signatures are matching up. President trump seems to realize that these lawsuits with maybe with the exception of the one in pennsylvania will not do a lot to change the outcome. Our lawyers have asked for meaningful access, but what good does that do . Again, laura and marcus, we do expect the press conference from his lawyers, the president s lawyers in nevada at 8 30 our time. Were hoping if theyve got these allegations that they will provide some sort of proof of these allegations. It will be interesting to see and then also the vote count in pennsylvania coming in. Its worth noting twitter is flagging some of the president s tweets. In the meantime, protesters gathered in both san jose and oakland yesterday demanding a ballot count in battleground states. Now, according to the examiner, that group of Public Officials is exploring the idea of quarantining as pandemic fatigue and ticket prices continue to entice people outside of the area. The proposal wouldnt be an order, much more of a strong recommendation. This comes as many states approach the third wave of the virus. That combined with the flu in terms of covid numbers. The bay area as a whole has seen lower numbers but the numbers do continue to rise. But Health Experts worry about how two major holidays could impablth thi impact that. The state of new york announced a quarantine for out of state and international visitors. Those with a negative test within 72 hours are still required to quarantine, but just for three days. So, as we approach the holidays, its still smart to remember to do what you can to really slow the spread. The nasdaq up about 250 points after a huge rally yesterday. We saw the dow actually gain 370 points, though that was well off of the highs of the day. The nasdaq was huge. Up 430 points or 3. 8 . In fact, the s p 500 and the nasdaq had their best postelection day rally on record. Investors right now are focused on the possibility that it looks like you may see joe biden take the president ial race and you may see the senate remain in republican hands. Gridlock generally good for the markets. Think about the two biggest pieces of ledgestratigislation last decade. They would hold. One being obama care. Health care stocks up big and the others the tax breaks passed by the republicans in 2017. You have gridlock. Youre not likely to see major change on that. That would be good for tech and thats what you saw that big tech rebound, people coming back into those stocks yesterday. Back over to you. Yeah, so, it will be really interesting to see if the president ial race lingers on what we really will expect from investors, as well. Where the markets will go. That is the thing. If this goes on, the uncertainty goes on like we saw in 2000 and were talking another 30 days and it ends up in the Supreme Court, that enthusiasm will likely stay. But people also look at history. Over the last 30 years when we had gridlock, you had president of one party and a mixed congress, thats when we actually had the best returns in the stock market. And had a president whos democrat and republicans in charge of one of the houses of congress. Thats when youve seen even bigger returns somewhere along the lines of 40 during those sessions. Heres a look at our high temperatures for the afternoon as we reach up to 77 degrees in the south bay. The peninsula will reach up to 75 degrees and heading over towards the trivalley. Well reach about 79 degrees. Looking at our live camera, though. It shows you how were beginning the day and what were expecting for the afternoon with north bay reaching up to 79, San Francisco up to 69 degrees and as we head over to the east bay reaching mostly to the low 70s. Well see a lot of changes here over the next couple days. It starts tomorrow with a dip in temperatures, a storm system arriving with a cold front and its going to bring in some spotty, light showers by tomorrow afternoon. But it looks like it wont be raining all throughout the day or throughout the weekend. Were just going to see some light showers passing here and there. But mainly tomorrow evening will be the best time we can see some of the rain moving through. Looks like well take a break on saturday for the most part, but its just going to be cool and windy and then on sunday there will be another system coming in that will just kind of reinforce the cool air were feeling and bringing in another chance of some spotty showers going into sunday afternoon as well as sunday evening. But clearing out by monday. So, a lot of unsettled weather here as were getting ready for all of these changes but the models are just picking up on a few hundredths of an inch of rain and mostly up to a tenth to possibly a quarter inch of rain for parts of the east bay.
