The studio had one of the Biggest Box Office wins of the year with barbie but delayed doom part 2 until next marge. This week marks the 25th anniversary since larry page cofounded google. Theyre the top Search Engine in the world and one of its most valuable companies. Nbc news takes a look at how they did it so you dont have to google the answer yourself. Google became a verb by building a better Search Engine. Back in the 90s, a lot of the searches were kind of junk, but google basically took the links on a page, back links theyre called, and used them to rank websites and improved the quality of our searches a lot. The original aim r name wasnt even google. It was back rub. Back in 96, larry page, it was the original company. They changed a year later. It became google. They incorporated and things happened fast from there. By 1999 they were off and running. By 2004. Initial public offering, they were valued at 23 billion already. 2015, they reorganized and became the Alphabet Company reflecting really a very diverse business model. In 2020, 1 trillion in valuation. Today, 1. 7 trillion at last check. But i want to show you the domination of google. I mean, we know theyre valuable, but by 2003, 20 years ago, they were the top Search Engine in the company. By 2013, more than 80 of the searches in america were on google. Today that number is closer to 99 out of 100 searches in america on the google platform. They are more than a Search Engine. Let me show you where the revenues are coming from. 57 , the big piece, on the google search. But also theyre into hardware and software. They own youtube, so 21 of revenue coming from ads on youtube and other places. They also have a very profitable Cloud Business now, so as you can see, big picture here, this whole picture, that is how you create the third most valuable company in america. Guys, back to you. I became a doctor because of google. Just kidding. Taking a live look at downtown san jose, it is a nice, mild day. I feel good that we are easing into fall, that were not, like, wham. Yeah, you know, and its not really on the calendar yet, fall. Meteorologically speaking, it is fall. Usually we start to see temperatures cooling off. Its been nice to have this break from some extreme temperatures because we do still know that can happen. Right now were seeing our temperatures around the bay area in the 50s and 70s, some of the warmest spots in san jose, saratoga, and right now 76 in dublin. Elsewhere, were mostly in the lower 60s. Were seeing that in San Francisco. Morgan hill now at 72 degrees, and in the next hour it will be 77, headed for the mid80s, just briefly before those temperatures start to come back down. Were enjoying sunshine and a nice little breeze and around the bay area, our temperatures are right at or even slightly below whats normal for this time of year, reaching 82 in east san jose. Well see some low to mid80s for much of the east bay with walnut creek reaching 84 for the afternoon, hayward looking at a high of 77. San mateo, were headed for about 75 degrees, and daly city reaching 53. San francisco mainly 60s today. Its already sunny downtown, and in the mission district, so its will be lightly warmer there. For much of the north bay, in spots like clear lake, one of the warmer areas, reaching 85, while napa will see a high of 77 for today. Taking a look at santa rosa for the next several days, well be in the upper 70s and low 80s, really mild weather will continue. It does get slightly warmer for sunday into monday, but not seeing a significant warmup here. Were just going to have some slightly warmer weather before it cools off once again for the middle to end of next week. Overall, not a major change in our weather pattern with a slight warming trend into the weekend. A little bit more sunshine, less in the way of the coastal fog, and the inland valleys usually do feel those temperatures coming up several degrees. In San Francisco, its in the upper 60s through at least friday, and then for the weekend, if you have some plans, we should start out with some clouds and then see a clearing out as we head into the afternoon. But some really nice weather ahead over the next several days after enjoying a nice Labor Day Weekend. Now to our climate in crisis. A local Nonprofit Organization is sounding the alarm on 18 bay area communities that need Climate Action now. Five are being labeled as hotspots due to overlapping risks to disaster, making them a top priority. And so for the last 65 years, the alliance has made it their mission to education, advocate, and collaborate to ensure the bay areas lands and communities are resilient to a changing climate. After extensive research, theyre pairing up with local nonprofits to begin urgent work in those hotspots to identify and deploy naturebased solutions to build resilience to worsening climate impacts. So here are those top five hotspots. Southwest santa rosa number one due to the wildfire and heat risk in the roseland area. And sin city due to Sea Level Rise as well as flooding risk. North richmond due to flooding, where theyre building a horizontal levee. In southern Alameda County in newark along the bay shore shoreline for wetland protection, and gilroy due to wildfires, extreme heat and flooding. Green Bell Alliance is working on grants to fund those projects, but they also need more Community Volunteers to put these plans in action. At the local level, there is the biggest opportunity for change, and Climate Adaptation will happen at that local level. So getting involved in your local planning processes, voting, and making sure that your voice is heard, that you think that its a priority for your community to be thinking about the future, to be planning for an equitable and resilient future where everyone is going to survive and thrive into the future, that is so important. And so, that starts at that local level, getting involved. They will
