Last night, a vigil was held at the fruitvale district on the oneyear anniversary. A memorial to kate steinle has been removed from pier 14 at the request of her family. The examiner reports a group called identity helped set it up after the man accused of killing her was acquitted. That group has strong ties to the White Nationalist rally held in charlottesville, virginia. The family asked the Mayors Office to take down the memorial to keep her death from being politicized.
