While its the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he has been at nbc news, we were also presented with reason to believe that this may not have been isolated. Lauer is the latest high profile media personality fired this year over allegations of Sexual Misconduct including fox news Host Bill Oreilly and cbs charlie rose. Nbc says it will continue to cover the lauer story as more details emerge. Lauer became cohost of the today show in 1997 replacing then longtime anchor bryant gumbel. Veteran radio host and writer garcon keillor confirmed today he was fired by his longtime broadcast home Minnesota Public Radio over accusations of improper behavior. And so we saw as a result of that, a lot of students from uc berkeley but different universityings coming to the realization that this will impact them directly. This affects me by taxing the tuition we get as a condition of doing Research Full time. Thats money i never seam but if it is taxed it affects me at about 100 month, 1,200 a year and this is money that really affects me. Its tough to live in the bay area. Reporter the students are now organizing phone banks and they say they are working with the university to lobby congress. These students worry that many graduates would drop out. What youre going to see is youre going to see people not going to graduate school as much because they cant afford t you will see American Students go out of the country and International Students stay in their home countries. Today, new Gun Legislation being proposed would do the same thing for concealed carry permits. The first bill the House Judiciary Committee is looking at is called the concealed carry reciprocity act. Senator Dianne Feinstein says if passed it would specifically hurt states like california and new york states that have very strict gun laws because it would allow weaker laws to take the place of those stronger ones. Someone with a concealed carry permit from nevada or arizona would be able to carry a concealed firearm in california. No questions asked. Reporter the National Rifle Association Says this type of legislation is exactly what is needed in order to get rid of socalled confusion surrounding various state laws. Representative Richard Hudson of North Carolina told usa today earlier this month that the recent shootings in las vegas and texas reinforce the significance of passing this bill because carrying a concealed firearm is an important way to protect and defend people.
