Reporter Authorities Say ali was driving 100 Miles Per Hour down 880 after a Party Christmas eve when he plowed into a patrol car killing officer Andrew Camilleri and injuring his partner. He was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana was in his system. Reporter the officers death has fueled aggressive dui campaigns in the bay area and statewide. We were out there working every day after he died with a lot more passion because of what happened. Reporter the Alameda County Sheriffs Department arrested 174 dui drivers during its campaign. Highway patrol made 936 dui arrests last weekend, 22 more than last year. Still, at least 40 people died in collisions over the weekend, a 38 increase from last year. A santa cruz man is facing charges after he was caught with a body in his car halfway across the country. Investigators say that 30year old walsh loehmann got into a highspeed chase in south dakota on monday on route 90. A trooper pulled him over for speeding. Loehmann was going up to 118 miles an hour before he hit a spike strip near rapid city and when officers searched the car they found a dead woman inside. No details on this. Time now 4 36. Highway 4 to the macarthur maze, that will take you about 14 minutes for your drive time. And again, its dry but that may change later on so expect slick surfaces once the rain comes in. Bay bridge no problems. No delays on the upper deck. The lower deck of the bay bridge is clear all the way into oakland. And checking our drive time, so far in the green on 580, 4 and 101. But Central California expected to get rain from this, same with the bay area and just for the north of us, as well. And were and just to the north of us, as well. And were seeing lightning off the coast. Expect thunderstorms today. Right now warm compared to yesterday. Upper 40s for concord, oakland. Livermore 47. 54 for San Francisco. San jose 49. So we have cloud coverage and thats helping keep the temperatures a little warmer than we normally are at this hour. Calm winds across the south bay and the east bay right now. Its picking up a little bit. Some south winds in novato at 6 Miles Per Hour an east winds an offshore breeze for napa at 11, same with fairfield at 9. We are noticing that offshore wind with you thats all going to shift once the storm arrives. The rain and thunderstorms off the coast and once this low gets here you see this counterclockwise movement, thats going to bring us more of the rain. Theres also another low to the north in the Pacific Ocean and will drop down friday. So today the first round, friday the second round. Heres your futurecast now. Lets set this into motion and show you the timing. Around 9 00, 10 00, the coast will get heavy rain. 11 a. M. More widespread rain. 1 00 a light drizzle until about 3 00. By 5 p. M. , the chance of thunderstorms will increase. That will last through 8 p. M. , more widespread rain coming through. Thats the first round. Thursday, most likely a break during the day. But friday will be round number 2. Temperatures will be in the 50s on the weekend. Theres a third storm monday into tuesday next week. So prepare for some slick surfaces later on today. Right now we are okay on the roads. Our hot spot is westbound 580 where we started the morning off with a minor trouble spot thats now cleared but still some slow speeds as a result. So westbound 580 from tracy stop and go conditions. Speeds down t 21 Miles Per Hour in some spots. Busy through livermore, better at the 580 680 connector. Slow westbound 580 through the altamont pass. Highway 4 at hillcrest traffic is moving well. So good news on 4, just 580 some delays this morning. Elsewhere around the bay, if you are at 680 242 this morning near concord, making that connector, traffic is pretty light. Looks like northbound not seeing any trouble spots through there. Most of 680 is actually checking in problemfree. Elsewhere westbound 580 right at 24, thats as you head towards the maze out of oakland, traffic moving nicely most of the volume on the westbound side the commute direction but not seeing any delays and traffic is clear also on the eastshore freeway. Westbound 80 right at powell street, looks like your drive times are nice here also. Highway 4 to the macarthur maze, that will only take you 14 minutes to make that trek along 80 this morning.
