Reporter 3 days after the deadly encounter, police say they started firing after the suspect started ramming their cars during a traffic stop. It happened saturday night shortly before 11 00 on cherry street. According to new information released by police tonight, chp officers were intharea following up on a shooting on 580. Thats when they spotted the Dodge Challenger that 23yearold eric was driving. The police chief in the bay areas biggest city is throwing his support behind some proposals to reform the department tonight. San joses mayor is pushing a series of reforms focused on limiting the use of force on protesters. Now this all comes in response to allegations of Excessive Force against officers during recent protests. Chief andy garcia says he supports the reforms as well as joining a pledge not to hire officers who have been fired or left other departments because of this ment doesnt hire oers y bul takea stand with other police departments. The city council is also considering an outright ban on rubber bullets. Also tonight, new video showing the moments right after a Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Department says a man shot and killed one of its deputies. Witnesses say that it shows the suspect, stephen carillo, trying to steal cars outside a business before being questioned by an employee who says that carillo told him he quote wasnt a bad guy, he was just sick of duality. A friend of the suspects says carillo was antiestablishment. A lot of his posts recently, even within the last 48 hours of him ambushing the deputy, it was a lot of antilaw enforcement. The state of california is allowing most stand alone bars to reopen this week, but here in San Francisco, officials announced bars wont be opening until midaugust, 2 months from now. Reporter he says bar owners have started an online petition asking the mayor to move up more quickly and open bars midjuly, around the same time as indoor restaurants. We all want to reopen safely. Reporter this supervisor says San Francisco has been more cautious, but we learned the city is only verge of asking permission from the state to move more quickly through the opening process. But that will burn out quickly, and temperatures will warm up. The dog walking forecast is from hayward, home to mango, a rescue from the east bay humane society. Temperatures in hayward will warm up into the low 80s by the afternoon. Thats warm, but its not flat out hot. You go a little farther inland, and yeah, be careful getting those paws out on the hot concrete and asphalt because those temperatures will heat up very quickly with air temperatures reaching the 90s. The onshore wind will be with us tomorrow, but its not going to be too strong. 5 to 10 Miles Per Hour throughout most of the morning. Thats not Strong Enough to push most of the marine layer even into the bay itself. The wind will puyallup later this week. A 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour wind tomorrow isnt too bad at all. So temperatures are not going to be reduced by the wind whatsoever. We start off in the 50s tomorrow morning. Mostly mid to upper 50s. A few cooler spots in the valleys of the north bay and along the coast, but a rapid warm up kicks in. By noon were already into the mid80s in most inland spots, and even around the bay low to mid70s. The coast stays in the 60s all day. But back to the 70s and near 80 around the bay. Low to mid90s inland. Theyre not record setting temperatures, but definitely above average. 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Even by 6 00, inland spots still hovering around 90. I mentioned the chance of a shower around the north bay, but dont get your hopes up. Maybe a few passing sprinkles for northern sonoma and napa counties into saturday, but even thats a 20 chance. Just an outside opportunity for some of the moisture to sneak towards us. Well watch that towards the weekend. But it will be cooler into the weekend before things heat up sunday and monday. Ken .
