Israel continues bombardment of gaza city. This is bombs hitting a port and the attacks are Cutting Supply lines off to millions living in gaza. Un saying more than 200,000 people fled the area. This is drone video that shows high rises in gaza city leveled and hollowed out. This is after hours of nonstop strikes from israels military. This is an up scale neighborhood that was home to the hamas run government. We spoke to a San Francisco native whose parents are from gaza. He spoke about the fear and anxiety he and others have been feeling. Were hearing entire families wiped out. This happened at the last where folks from california, one lost 15 family members. Another one lost over 20. In previous wars israelis would do a warning shot first so folks with evacuate their homes or apartment complexes but theyre not doing that. This was the scene in israel as rockets lit up the sky. Hamas has fired thousands of rockets into israel since saturday. At least 1,000 people have been killed inside israel. Officials in west bank say more than 800 palestinians have been killed. A San FranciscoBusiness OwnerCommunity Activist is in tel aviv. He had traveled there last week for his nieces barmitzfa. He says everyone is struggling to explain the war to children. Thats the hardest thing honestly. How this is affecting children, how its seeing children have to figure out whats going on. They have questions. They dont know. Theyre afraid. It is horrible to have to explain this to young people who are being traumatized by the fact that missiles are intercepted above them. He said the past couple days his volunteer organization thats gathering supplies to send to troops and families near the front line. President biden speaking minutes ago, the president strongly condemned attacks for hamas on israel. He said security is being increased here at home. We are taking steps at home in cities across the United States of america, Police Departments have stepped up security around centers of jewish life. Department of Homeland Security and federal bureau of investigation are working close with state and local Law Enforcement and Jewish Community partners to identify and disrupt any domestic threat that can emerge in connection with the horrific attacks. It will be a cool, cloudy day today all throughout the bay area once that cold front sweeps in. It will bring a little bit of rain in the forecast, widespread throughout the bay. Look at the scattered showers here and there. It doesnt amount to much, a hundredth of an inch of rain from San Francisco into fairfield. Into the evening hours it will clear up and well catch a break from the rain wednesday, thursday, into friday potentially. Attorneys office announced ten people have been arrested in the area for postal crimes. The suspects are accused of everything from assaulting and robbing mail carriers to breaking into mail trucks. Its all so they can get a hold of master keys that give access to mailboxes and storage facilities. Officials say its been happening more often mainly in San Francisco, east bay, and san jose. Postal inspectors do not forget the attacks on coworkers and friends. We will continue to respond to the intensity of the crimes with every tool available to Law Enforcement as long as mail carriers do not feel safe. Those crimes also carry federal charges, so many suspects are facing decades behind bars. Postal inspector announced theyre tripling the reward for information when postal workers are robbed or assaulted. Now it is 150,000. Chinese consulate in San Francisco is closed after a chaotic scene yesterday where a driver was shot by police after driving into the consulate lobby. Kaiser is planning to layoff dozens of workers in the east bay according to Company Filings with Employment Development department. The filing says the layoffs will happen in november. Close to 40 employees will lose their jobs. The highest number will be at the pleasanton hospital. Coalition of workers representing kaiser unions is warning of a second strike. It can be as soon as next month if they cannot reach a deal. The last one involved 75,000 workers and the union says the next strike will be bigger. They say kaiser isnt going far enough to address shortages but kaiser says it has hired tens of thousands of workers for Union Represented roles in 2023. A live look outside at oakland. This week we have two cold fronts, the one yesterday and the one moving through into our afternoon hours. This will bring in a little bit of rain left over from the system. A lot cooler temperatures this afternoon and a lot of cloudy skies into the overnight hours tonight. Notice that continues to track to the south and behind it is cool, dry air. We are going to be seeing sunshine in the forecast tomorrow to set us up for success. I want to talk about how much rain we can expect in the bay area because it doesnt amount to too much. If anything, a hundredth of an inch in the north bay and east bay. Pretty impressive in the south bay but in the grand scheme of things, this is a fast moving system that will bring gusty conditions. Wind gusts around 20 Miles Per Hour with onshore flow from fairfield to the coast near San Francisco. Lets match that with daytime highs. Its nice and cool and feels like fall this afternoon.
