Area San Francisco could be allowing more businesses to reopen next monday with Curbside Pickup and Delivery Services. She says shes excited about the potential expansion of Curbside Pickup and delivery but it could also be a dangerous move especially since the city has not yet seen a substantial downward trend in hospitalizations for covid19 San Francisco city Officials Say the decision whether to allow more Retail Stores to open on may 18th will be determined by the number of coronavirus patients in San Francisco hospitals. If indeed our rate of hospitalizations. Start to climb substantially. It may not be safe to continue to reopen. Well the city is also set up a new set of guidelines for stores that are already open places like Grocery Stores Delivery Services and restaurants. But all must also put those guidelines in place. Well lets go ahead and check out the Weather Forecast. We had rain overnight a little bit of clearing in some spots depending on where you are this morning, lets find out more from dave spahr hide a good morning, a get a good morning. Marty good morning. Thats right were off to a little in the way of rain we had from over night a little bit early this morning now thats a pretty much cloud cover. Were dealing with now and some leftover fog as well. They Area Temperatures have been moving a little bit weve got the upper 50s over most the real estate 60 per hayward 58 for antioch 62 concord and 15 i mean well for san jose, not a lot of movement which was were expecting for today, heres the breakdown by noon getting into the mid 6066 by 1 oclock and 4 oclock also 66 thats after a High Temperature achieved variable clouds will be expected throughout the day today. However we are looking for a little bit more rain upstream that will be happening a little bit it looks like into tomorrow and potentially even into thursday, well take a look at that little bit later on the broadcast part sounds good day. Thanks. A lot. Lets get to another big story were following this morning this is in the east bay where Tesla Ceo Elon musk has restarted car production at its factory in front and that defies the Alameda County shelter in place order. And now President Trump is weighing in as well kron fours will tran live at the tesla headquarters in fremont he has a full plate high will good morning. Good morning marty a full plate, yes because theres so many moving parts and all of this because President Trump he actually chimed in at around 6. 55 this morning, our time after he found out that elan musk was openly defying local law he knows in essence. He is a criminal because there is a shelter in place and he could not. According to the Health Department resume operations until at the very least at the end of the month, but even tweeted out i will be doing this and it has the blessing of donald trump President Donald Trump take a look at your screen. This is wh the president tweeted out this morning. He says california should let tesla and elon musk open the plant now it can be done fast and safely. Elan musk took to twitter yesterday afternoon confirming what i thought happened yesterday morning in fact let me show you video that we shot at 5. 30 this morning. I was at this location marty the exact same time i saw it just as much activity to the point where i was wondering if they were already back in full production that we did not get official confirmation until elan musk tweeted that out yesterday that he fully knows that one e as a lawsuit filed against Alameda County Health Department to that they did not say go ahead and go back to work. But he said he was going to do it and he did it i personally believe that he actually started yesterday with all the activity that took place yesterday at the tesla plant even said if you must make arrest, do not arrest my employees arrest me because i will be on the assembly line. Now let me draw your attention to the screen as far as an exclusive poll by next our company. We went out and we talk to people about shelterinplace obviously its a very hot button issue many people supported it. Many others are saying its unconstitutional. So let me just break down. Some of the bullet points and says how do you feel about returning to your place of work. 25 say they just dont care because theyre unemployed thats at the top of the pole, there and then 27 says if i go to work i will go to work under any circumstance that includes obviously elan musk who is right now hes not surprised if he is going to be arrested even said you can find me on the assembly line, 14 says i will not go to work fear of getting sick and then at the bottom right there i want to quickly show you i will not go to work and less face masks. Our ward and thats what you on that musk is saying that his employees are following social distance guidelines that they are Wearing Masks that they are safe theyre wiping down everything. And thats what he said to the Alameda County Health Department as well, but they did not deem that his business making cars at this time as of essential business for face 2 obviously disagreed with that. Governor gavin newsom he was told about what elan musk was doing or planning to do and the governor did not chime in saying in a perfect world. He would like it for probably sometime next week which is even before Alameda County shelter in place which was supposed to be lifted at the end of the month, so it looks like now marty lots of moving parts as i promise looks like now theyre communicating with the on mosque to see what can be done, but you Better Believe Sarah Stinson did the stories about restaurants. Other businesses are paying close attention saying why are you giving him special attention or being harsher. When im not getting this or that so you Better Believe all businesses are going to closely watch this. Not just in california but across the country well specially of the since musk has gotten the president s approval on Something Like this. Thanks low will it will tran reporting live for us in fremont other news this morning, dozens of bars and restaurants across San Francisco are closing their doors for good because of this pandemic the owner of archive bar and grill was for forced to a close and file for bankruptcy kron fours taylor a sack you spoke to the owner about this life changing decision. Its devastating because ive spent my entire life building this business you are getting to the place to be an honor and you know worked really hard entire life to everything my bills on time always pay my rent on always took care of my guests always took care of my employees and to go from that position to position. You know its its to find our situation. In neighboring business was supposed to buy his restaurant last month, but they have since put out of the deal because of the Financial Burdens of the coronavirus i looked at all other options like loans and Financial Aid to stay afloat but says it wouldnt be enough to save his business something he says is now common across the industry on all the numbers i work with people on work consulting groups you know they are there. Theyre going between like 30 to 40 to even like 50 of restaurants having to close in the next 3 or 4 months brian says Small Businesses and restaurants in the city were already struggling to make margins before the pandemic now the coronavirus is the breaking point for many the margins and restaurants are so small and theyve been getting smaller and smaller and smaller every year, especially in San Francisco cost of living costs of rents also you know employees all that all that and so those margins are so slim when i started looking at the numbers and started punching everything realizing that even when we opened back up when we come back to the restrictions on the spaces are. Are going to be completely debilitating restaurants like ristorante french you know in north beach which has been around for 3 decades are no exception the shutdown when the shelterinplace order went into effect because owners can imagine transforming into a takeout spot with the pandemic and high operating costs the family says it wasnt feasible to continue once their lease runs up later this year without serious help from local and state and federal Government Agencies where. Were in for a look at times. Well call this a huge wakeup call for the city and local governments many of these businesses were already struggling before all of this because of the cost to do business here in San Francisco in now with no change happens soon many of these businesses say that we will continue to see those in the store fronts across the city and San Francisco tillery sackey kron 4 news. But Elizabeth Cohen reports a shortage of that drug is now putting hospitals in a very tough position. Drug thats been shown in a large rigorous study to fight covid19 given the limited supplies. The federal government has been doling it out some hospitals getting less than they need others getting non new york state is working with. Hhs health and Human Services on the federal side administering to 2900 people at a 15 hospitals. The federal government is giving new york enough from des severe for 2,900 patients but there are about 7,262 coronavirus patients in new York Hospitals that same situation playing out around the country this mile from the first shipment of remdesivir year received last week by Massachusetts General Hospital in boston. Where doctor richelle what lewinsky is chief of Infectious Diseases, we know. That the doses of the strike that were going to get are not going to be enough to treat every patient that we have in the hospital now so theyve had to make decisions about who gets remdesivir year and who doesnt this was hard at mass general they have about 200 patients with the virus and they have enough from des severe for only 65 patients. And more patients are being admitted every day and doctors dont know when theyll get more of the drug. Mass generals decision a Hospital Committee not the patients doctor decides who gets it this is not how we like to practice medicine. But she says its the most equitable way to do it its nearly impossible situation to be in medicine when you think that theres something you could and should be doing for somebody. And you dont have it to give. The federal government has never explained how they decided which hospitals would receive red decidieron how much this drug is promising and we want to get to the American Peop
