Big of violence and anger when the curfew change from 8 oclock at night to 6 oclock at so you can see there are lots of people chanting was signs all rooting for justice for george floyd and then things went south a little later in the afternoon, the curfew change as i said from 8 oclock to 6 oclock it was announced on twitter 02 33pm the protests started around 3 so. Some were unaware of the change they were angry when they found out about an earlier curfew as they were you know amped up protesting police say a group of protesters marched onto highway 6. 80 blocked all lanes of northbound traffic vandalizing some cars. We dont know if the cars were vandalized from rubber bullets from the police or if it was from the protesters chp officers responded with other agencies deploying gas to disperse the crowd and several people were arrested you can see in the video it was quite chaotic on 6. 81 officer got minor injuries. Police say another group refused to leave North Broadway and civic drive despite being warned to leave the area as the curfew was starting gas was also deployed there and windows of a nearby business were broken again havent been able to find that Business Police say protesters use rocks and bottles at officers, but protesters on twitter claim that they had been peaceful and that they were surrendering on their knees so a bit of back and forth here, but at least the protest was much more peaceful than it was sunday, a Broadway Plaza is completely closed off right now drove up around their barricades all around Broadway Plaza outside of their around the city. All the businesses are boarded up again this morning waiting to hear from Contra Costa County, the board of supervisors will be voting on a countywide curfew will be hearing about that in the meantime no matter what walnut creek still has a curfew tonight that starts at 8 oclock. Im live in waller creek Sarah Stinson kron 4 news all right sir, thanks a lot for that report from walnut creek with things are much more peaceful. Yesterday compared to sunday robin yes, lets have from the east bay to San Francisco protests are also remain largely peaceful throughout monday, but arrests were made in some cities, lets check in with kron fours will tran who is live in San Francisco with an update. Well good morning. Good morning robin right now you can see the windows all boarded up the businesses are still cleaning up a relatively peaceful as you mentioned in San Francisco, but across the bay, let me show you video of oakland where they did make 100 arrests in the overnight hours. This all started at around 4 oclock in the afternoon when thousands gather that oakland tech for a rally it was mentioned on social media to be peaceful. Then they marched through the streets to oakland to the Oakland Police department where again. They were followed by the Oakland PoliceDepartment Things are relatively calm but then once the curfew kicked in they were told to disperse a lot of people did a lot of others did not and thats when the Oakland Police department along with mutual aid. They came in and they ended up arresting 100 people 80 of them for Unlawful Assembly, not listening to the curfew laws there are now in effect 20 others for unrelated charges. We dont know exactly what those charges are but altogether 100 people. But still given the amount of people and the anger going through the nation in oakland, according to many people in that city and the Police Department their qualifying this has really relatively peaceful. But what they have seen over the past couple of days in San Francisco. Back to my location, thousands also rallied city hall for the second straight day we saw all that happened over the weekend this time, San Francisco mayor london breed she was joined by actor and activist jamie foxx who was invited by the mother of mario woods who was shot and killed back in 2012 by the San FranciscoPolice Department. They took a knee in honor of Colin Kaepernick as well as george floyd what happened in minneapolis. They talked about their frustration with the Police Department in fact, San Francisco mayor london breed she said before she was mayor of course she was an africanamerican woman, she grew up in San Francisco and she also says changes need to happen to Police Departments across the country as far as jamie foxx he was just talking about making positive changes in fact we were able to hear him as he addressed the crowd. And we have to make sure that once this is done. Is that we have to try to make change occur when it comes to put the police brutality. What im saying is is is that there has to be a deterrent. If that man can be handcuffed and that make us sit on that mans neck for that long and feel comfortable about it. That means comfortable about it that means that hes not afraid of whats going to happen. We have to change the language. They have to be worried that i could go to jail for this. And that rally took place late morning and went into the early afternoon. So i wrapped up long before the curfew in San Francisco started going into effect at 8 oclock at night until 5 oclock this morning. So were about an hour and 5 minutes past that curfew let me show you whats going on live, you can head back out live now this is exactly what you are seeing in San Francisco, lots of Police Officers circling this area and i tweeted out the picture forget about social distance, they have 3 of 4 people inside each squad car just to make sure that they are ready to go. I would imagine for anything possibly explosive but i can tell you relatively peaceful in San Francisco said the fact that the San FranciscoPolice Department they didnt even tell us how many arrests in the overnight hours that we saw from sunday to monday for 80 people were arrested, but cole lawyerly that businesses are not removing the boarded up windows just in case Something Else happens in the days to come back to you. Its good to hear that it remained relatively peaceful. Thank you well well trend reporting live in San Francisco party. Were following breaking news in but while this morning where police are investigating an officerinvolved shooting. It happened just after midnight on redwood Street Police were already responding to reports of looting in that area now were working to gather more details, well have them for you as soon as we get them. Well also in San Francisco. What began as a peaceful demonstration turned into rioting and looting at one cannabis shop. Cari donaldson is the owner of california street cannabis his business was destroyed following a night of violent protests june 1st also supposed to be of the day that he and his partner launched the compassion program, its intendeto donate cannabis to hiv positive and low income San Francisco residents. But the robert e has put that program on hold. Its devastating and accused love. But of course were not the only business that got robbed, i honestly think that theres a bunch of people who. Or take advantage of the situation and decided to john robison its its disgraceful honestly. Donaldson says at least 10,000 worth of product was stolen. Now to the east bay where more than 70 new cars were stolen from the san leandro dodge dealership as looting and destruction hit the city sunday night, the car dealership said it spent on the door majority of yesterday fixing the cars that were left on the lot, cleaning up glass as well from shattered windows and doors kron fours taylor psaki has more. The owner of the dealership says that the looting began across the street at the Marina Square shops around 7. 30 people made their way into the dealership by 1030 people drove off with nearly million for the brand new cars. And theres still no the car. And still to come. And these was sam and last night. So nobody could come out so they had about 5 hours of and the dealership video posted to social media shows looters burning out tires. And driving brand new cars off the lot at the san leandro dodge dealership owner of the dealership Carlos Hidalgo says hooters drove off with more than 70 of his cars sunday night everything from trucks jeeps chargers and the expensive Dodge Challenger hellcat i was a came in and kind of got in here and they had tear gas and you know they were. Crashed everywhere. It was bad and 70 plus cars are missing. He says looters broke into the building who found the 2 safe. He says the thieves then you some of the cars to exit the parking lot by ramming through vehicles blocking access to the driveway now empty parking lot spaces are left representing cars were stolen its happening and its not just happening here is happening to everybody. And the home all everybody across the Marina Square stores like nike were also ransacked. Hooters left scattered shoe boxes across the floor. Crews replace the broken windows and glass with plywood in preparation for monday night everybody wants justice and this find the real justice, but this is not justice so far the dealership has recovered about 20 cs and to prevent this from happening again theyve hired new Armed Security to watch the dealership at night in san leandro Taylor Bisacky kron 4 news. In the north bay a curfew will remain in place for the next few nights to curb overnight violence after some businesses were hit over the weekend. One of them was a santa rosa restaurant cafe mimosa the business was already struggling because of the shelter in place. But now the Restaurant Owner yasmina tala has to clean up about 30,000 worth of damage. Were going to fix it, you know, theyre just windows. Just glass at the end of the day. Honestly i get it i whats going on i understand why its going on but id causing destruction is not the answer. Atala says his business was not the only one that was hit, but he says he forgives whoever threw the rocks of the window. An extraordinary call before addressing the country on monday President Trump paraded the nations governors and urge them to crack down on unruly protesters. Despite that call governor Gavin Newsome says that he wont implement a statewide curfew for now but he is bringing in several 1000 National Guard troops and Governor Newsom says he sympathizes with george floyd supporters. Well there you heard it the president s hearing from the governor as well and well hear from more folks throughout this newscast. The chief of through oakland and San Francisco and san jose will hear from mayors as well everyone addressing this issue the protesting in the looting as well. So we have a lot to talk about that coming up next on the kron 4 morning news, a south bay county is easing restrictions. Allowing for more businesses and centrist to reopen well break it all down well talk about the stay at home order the update on the stay at home order coming up. Morgan washington outrage from protesters across the country is not falling on deaf ears on capitol hill over forms lawmakers are calling for ill have that story coming up. And were looking at temperatures really warming up for today, heres a live shot as you can see the bay bridge toll plaza 78 by 10 00am and 1 oclock already 90 and were not done all welcome back everyone the time 6. 15 the sun is coming up temperatures are warming up but how hot is it going getting your city we have days far as standing by with a look at the forecast to give us all the answer state. Hey good morning rob, good morning, everybody and were turned up today are going to feel it today tomorrow looks like before things start to turn around again give you back to spring but today and tomorrow. Oh its some some summertime live shot coming in think the shot from timber on we have here theyre off in the distance the golden gates, a little color station in the skies to got some high clouds. Again heres the golden gate kind of up close and personal dont see the fog situation going on this morning. But a nice picture that we have as we get things started temperatures. Thus far weve got a 50s and 60s mixture still here 48, Half Moon Bay are still stubbornly in the 40s but thats okay got lots of time to rise upper 50s along the east bay shoreline at this hour to for comparison sake, looks like were pretty close to this time yesterday with the exception of Half Moon Bay only degree or so in striking range were going to see the coupling of i expect the yellows overtake this in the next couple of hours as we really start warming up. Now the true affects the advisories a technicality of this reporting this is tomorrow. I dont know how many people going to feel a difference between today and tomorrow because youre the heat really starts today. But the advisory kicks in for the bay area tomorrow. It is in the Central Valley today through thursday though inland highs in the upper 90s will pop or a pop 100 plus in some of those in the valleys tomorrow, though coastal numbers in the lower 70s. It brings with it the heat exhaustion heat strokes keep the water flowing. You cant say enough about water youre out about bring that extra bottled water what are and so forth. So again, mostly sunny and warming temperatures in the upper 90s going on inland heat advisory kicks in tomorrow near 100 inland 70s by the way the coast 80s and 90s for the bay and this weekend we go back to spring cooling and might see a shower and chilly at the coast too. For this set deal that we have down here in the bay of campeche e this is a tropical depression right now, but its kind of spinning around aimlessly if you will and we expected to develop into a Tropical Storm when it will be given the name at that point. Highs today at 79 San Francisco oakland and 8692 meanwhile for san jose. And the maps boy ill tell you what the blood red its taken over a good chunk of them happens you can see and expect more of this tomorrow upper 90s out there to the delta course filet whoa because my jacket too 92 for napa santa rose at 9479 for San Francisco in 92 coming in for san jose where to fill in some of these gaps here with your 4 zone forecast coming up in a bit of course have the extended to show you when spring is coming back into the picture. Coming back to the picture for us robin has bridges such for yeah i do and also have a trouble spot traffic all jammed up on the nimitz i brought up a caltrans camera. Over 8. 80 in hayward so that you can see this nasty little backup. So this is a to the south. At the 92 split this is the start of your backup, heading up to this hot spot 80 south between whipple and alvarado nowits an injury accident involving several vehicles. It was blocking all lanes of traffic but it looks like crews have managed to clear some of the lanes not all of them. But at last check the left lane is still closed as i just showed you that back up spills through hayward beyond 92 its almost back from a 2. 38 now so expect delays on the nimitz because of this crash between whipple and alvarado now thats blocking several lanes of Traffic Alert remains in place mount you can see all of 8. 80 and thats why youre at 38 minutes to make it from san leandro out to milpitas. Now were starting to see a backup at the bay bridge toll plaza i told you it was coming and there it is backing up toward the end of the lot 12 minutes into San Francisco will take it somewhere bridges and drive times coming up a little bit later marty. All right robin well on capitol hill the Congressional Black Caucus called an emergency meeting monday.
