Rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse crowds. There were some arrests that were made as well, we know one officer was injured. Thats a police say since these protests are expected to continue the Contra Costa County board of supervisors. Well decide this morning of a countywide curfew is needed for now the sheriff had just been recommending county residents to stay at home. Specifically after 8 oclock so that meeting kicks off this morning at 9. 30 so well have to see what the board of supervisors decides however cities across Contra Costa County already have curfews in place including walnut creek know im hearing word that another protest could happen here in walnut creek but no concrete information quite yet obviously were waiting on a lot more information as it all always stay tuned right here to the kron 00 04am morning news online walnut creek Sarah Stinson back to you all right still a very fluid situation. Sarah. Thanks a lot for that report from the inspector rob, him. Were also following developments out of richmond where police say looters and vandals targeted the hilltop mall. This is what Richmond Police tweeted last night they say there was originally information about a shooting at the mall and an officer being injured, but those reports were false. Well another big story that were following for you this morning out of San Francisco protests remained largely peaceful throughout moay. But about 100 people were arrested in oakland last night. Lets check in with kron fours will tran who is live in San Francisco with the latest from both cities will. Im at union square robin and i just talked to a couple of Police Officers in 8 said that they were pleasantly surprise because it was peaceful in the overnight hours they had a heavy presence throughout San Francisco to the point was to the point where they didnt even bother telling us the arrest numbers so thats a good indication that it was really low and that no major drama in San Francisco that wasnt the case however in oakland. All in all though both cities are calling it a relatively peaceful night but in oakland. They did have to make the arrest so they actually started off peacefully at around 4 oclock in the afternoon at oakland tech. With thousands of people showed up to rally. For george floyd and just to speak out against Police Brutality was organized by activists as a person or online and thats why. So many people mobilize so quickly. They were told not to be destructive and that after it was over to march down to the Oakland Police department and thats exactly what they did they were however followed by the Police Officers from pd as well as mutual aid. But that city like other cities they also have a curfew that began at 8 oclock at night and then when a lot of people did not disperse thats when a lot of Police Officers moved in and they started making the arrests. 80 people altogether either for Unlawful Assembly or breaking curfew nothing too major however, 20 people were arrested for unrelated crimes, some of them probably felony arrests as well. But the good news is we did not hear of any major damage or anybody getting hurt from last nights protest in oakland, as far as San Francisco also quieted started off a little bit earlier then oakland at around 11 oclock in the morning at the steps at San Franciscos city hall, San Francisco mayor london breed she was joined by a lot of activists local activists and she was joined by actor activist jamie foxx who came to town to talk about george floyd to talk about Police Brutality. He he and many others took a moment of silence they took me as well to honor Colin Kaepernick as well as to show solidarity for george floyd and we all know by now what happened that an officer placed his knee on George Floyds neck for 9 minutes. They dispersed long before the curfew kicked in the curfew began at 8 oclock and obviously lifted at 5 oclock in the morning. But i got to tell you there is a heavy Police Presence throughout San Francisco one of the officers i spoke to said that because a lot of people perhaps got their energy off according to him that perhaps thats why i remain quiet in the overnight hours. But of course this being a such a fluid situation they will continue to have that presence in the immediate future. And these boards as well well be here nobody is coming down to take him down because they know anything can possibly happen. Back to you robin. All right, thank you well well check back with you later marty. We were enjoying a beautiful morning in the bay area were nice break of the sunshine blue skies Cool Temperatures for now, but its going to change days far as the tells all about that change. Coming as soon as later today, hyundai. So what we really start feeling that thats right as we get probably pass the noon hour you know which way we go and not that as we start the day as you had mentioned earlier the temperatures are pretty palatable at that even though were a little bit ahead of where we were this time from yesterday but still feel pretty good. We can deal with it. But later today, different story bay bridge toll plaza there and we do have a nice deep blue sky going on here, but there will be some hazy high clouds out there just a touch from that low that continues to spin out wait or southwest not be much of a player thats making some noise. There we have the shot from timber on as we can see off to the distance, theres the golden gate again some of that age dont forget its a cold ocean and cold day. Thats also working here too with very hot temperatures in and around it. Here is the progress thus far no its still pretty benign were in the 60s across the region, 70 to 4. Antioch and 57 on the other end of the scale for Half Moon Bay. Theyre in the 40s just recently about an hour so go so they really jumped up here upper 60s over a good chunk of the east bay shoreline with freeman coming in at 62. However later today things will be changing now this is not for us today, this is really technically kicks in tomorrow, but it is in Central Valley today through thursday, what it is a heat advisory you can see the Coverage Area that affects us tomorrow, San Francisco not in it technically, but will be claim warm today tomorrow still east bay shoreline not in there either. And then highs will be pushing well in the 90s at the coast were talking about lower to even middle 70s potentially just want to take that extra water bottle with their throat the car maybe not just of all platform for course back in a a trunk 87 going on at high noon at 3 oclock 94, which shot may not necessarily be your High Temperature for today but expect many midnineties to be had today and into tomorrow very short lived that will be though to break the back and then it all truck on back numbers action the upper 70s, it looks like by the weekend as we wait for success of systems to come in and give us some relief well a bit more of that coming up later on in the broadcast back to you. All right sounds good. Thank you dave in San Francisco. What began as a peaceful demonstration turned into a rioting and looting at one cannabis shop cari donaldson is the owner of california street cannabis his business was destroyed following a night of violent protests. Ne first was also supposed to be the day that he and his partners launched the compassion program, its intended to donate cannabis to hiv positive and low income, San Francisco residents. But the robbery has put that program on hold. Its devastating and definitely are a few with you of course were not the only business that got robbed, i honestly think that theres a bunch of people who or take advantage of the situation and decided to john robison its its a special honestly. Donaldson says at least 10,000 worth of product was stolen. And in the east bay more than 70 new cars were stolen from the san leandro dodge dealership as looting and destruction hit that city sunday night. The car dealership says that it spent the majority of monday fixing the cars that were left on the lot and also cleaning up the glass from the shattered windows and doors kron fours Taylor Bisacky has more. The owner of the dealership says that the looting began across the street at the Marina Square shops around 7. 30 people made their way into the dealership by 1030 people drove off with nearly million for the brand new cars. And still no the car. And still to come. And he was sam and last night. So nobody could come out so they had about 5 hours of in the dealership video posted to social media shows looters burning out tires. And driving brand new cars off the lot at the san leandro dodge dealership owner of the dealership Carlos Hidalgo says looters drove off with more than 70 of his cars sunday night everything from trucks jeeps chargers and the expensive Dodge Challenger hellcat i was a war so i came in and i got in here and that they had tear gas and you know they were. Crashed everywhere. It was bad and 70 plus cars are missing. He says looters broke into the building who found the 2 safe. He says the thieves then you some of the cars to exit the parking lot by ramming through vehicles blocking access to the driveway now empty parking lot spaces are left representing cars were stolen its happening and its not just happening here is happening to everybody. And the home all everybody across the Marina Square stores like nike were also ransacked. Hooters left scattered shoe boxes across the floor. Crews replace the broken windows and glass with plywood in preparation for monday night everybody wants justice and this find the real justice, but this is not justice so far the dealership has recovered about 20 cars and to prevent this from happening again theyve hired new armed security. To watch the dealership at night in san leandro Taylor Bisacky kron 4 news. To the north right now a curfew will remain in place for the next few nights to curb overnight violence after some businesses were hit hard over the weekend. One of them was centrals a restaurant cafe mimosa on that business was already struggling because of the shelter in place but now the Restaurant Owner yards and atala has to clean up about 30,000 worth of damage. Were going to fix it, you know, theyre just windows. Just loss at the end of the day. Honestly i get it i whats going on i understand why its going on, but i the cause the destruction is not the answer. Lets holla says that his business wasnt the only one that was hit, but he says that he forgives whoever threw the rocks. And still ahead on the kron 4 morning news a south bay county is easing restrictions allowing for more businesses and centers to reopen were going to break down the updated stay at home order coming up. And an investigation is underway on the peninsula to see if a Jewelry Store breaking is connected to a crime wave. Before we get all that though well enjoy this view golden gate bridge, plenty of sunshine blue skies and warm temperatures as well get out enjoy it will be ri and welcome back to the kron 4 morning news the time 8. 14 its already filling good outside your door temperatures already in the 60s or upper 60s in some spots, lets check in with days far who has a look at your tuesday forecast 8. Hey good morning robin good morning, everybody has a good start we have today. Yeah thats true. Well lots of sunshine to to dish out which is kind of nice as well but things will be getting quite toasty this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon to really get a 2 day event of this thing before we see it backing off again to more springlike temperatures some haze off to the distance we do have some high cloudiness. We keep talking about and then again dont forget the bay is cold the water is cold so that will act as a the salt 8 or for some of that hes there yet the golden gate going on here over the way some moderate traffic i guess for this time of day expose with whats going on. Again some haze off to the distance here, but pretty good blue skies and certainly not that intrusion of fog we sometimes get this time of day. Robin was talking about the 60s thats pretty good. Most of the area is in the 60s right now up to 72. Antioch 57, Half Moon Bay they were the chilly spot that were still are but in the 40s just about an hour or so ago. Heres how we stand to 24 hour contrast. Oh, yeah, and now were starting to see a separation now compared to yesterday by some happen doesnt degrees thus far fairfields back there to 11 head 5 for tri valley livermore looks like to. So what were concerned with here is theres a heat advisory coming into effect this action the Central Valley today through thursday but for the bay area, technically kicks in tomorrow, deliberately not including San Francisco in the east bay shoreline in a chunk of the peninsula either but it will be pretty warm for everybody in the highs in the 90s and the coast in the lower to middle 70s. So were talking mostly sunny and warming High Temperatures upper 90s going on in london that heat advisory means you know on 100 plus as possible. Could be even possible today but certainly for tomorrow that will quickly change as we approach of the weekend new systems coming in off the pacific will help usher in maybe a shot of rain or be nice to see and surely up the coast, you know were talking about High Temperatures today. Well in the 70s in tomorrow too. That will be backtracking in the 60s or even the upper 50s at that we have chilly waters but not in the gulf of mexico and the bay of campeche you look at that that is a tropical depression. My friends still is, although its expected to become a Tropical Storm may do so today. So what we may have a name storm another one for you this one actually in season. And its not exactly sure where this is going to go course, but it looks like its a start to drift to the north so the gulf coast of the u. S. Its something that may bear down on a little bit later on got a better handle on that little bit later on 79 San Francisco, 86 coming in for open with san jose at 92. Across the wider bay, a lot of 90s to dish out look at the rhetoric. Tomorrow is going to be more progression to but plenty of 90s to dish up the relatively cool spot at 82. 86 for oakland, but youre there you can see the concord and cut 9997 for livermore coming up a little bit of course well have that for some forecast see whats going on in your backyard and that extended to show you its just a blip on the road here just 2 days before we see some springtime weather coming back again, robin house very tropical batter much much better for folks whove been waiting for traffic to thin out nows your chance come on and the delay is over no more backups here at the bay bridge toll plaza a quick trip into San Francisco and trouble free all the way across the upper deck. So the morning commute pretty much over for a t. 92 so little crowded though its busy west of the toll plaza to the high rise, but no problems working your way into foster city or send the tail will peak at more bridges coming up a little bit later. Well an independent autopsy shows george floyd died of asphyxiation from sustained pressure and thats a very different conclusion compared to the finding by the Hennepin County medical examiner. That autopsy reported no physical findings of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation floyds family Attorney Ben Crump says the new autopsy indicates floyd died at the scene. We are question he would be alive today if not for the pressure applied to his neck. Officer Derek Chauvin and the strain on his body from the 2 additional officers, me and him in his back. Ex officer Derek Chauvin is charged with thirddegree murder and seconddegree manslaughter for floyds death. The criminal complaint against him says he held his knee on floyds neckfor more than 8 minutes. And it says for almost 3 minutes of that time floyd was unresponsive.
