So just be aware of that and then the by the end of the week though things are going to back to normal. Were definitely going to see a the hot weather return, especially inland. As we get closer to the weekend. Thats a look at whether novak to the news all right rebecca. 4. 33 is the time back to what our big stories this morning weve got what were under a 100 days until the election this november and Presumptive Democratic nominee joe biden says that he could announce his pick this week or next for Vice President california senator kamala harris. Apparently near the top of that list in addition to kamala harris, los angeles representative karen bass is likely on the short list as well. Biden has said that he would choose a female running mate and has been facing pressure from the Democratic Party to choose a woman of color. Yesterday bass explained why shes interested in the job. But im the most proud of is my ability to bring people together because i think that our country needs healing. I do believe that President Biden will be a healer in chief and we certainly need that now and i have believed ive played that role to i have worked across racial lines. I worked across political lines. Bass has served as speaker of the house here in california in fact and she says she has experienced Foreign Policy as well another top contender for vp is illinois senator Tammy Duckworth she says President Trump is trying to divide us as a nation. That support joe biden together like no matter where he does actually put his back to play on the team. We need real leadership and joe biden is a kind of anesthetic percent we need to read really this country out of the crisis that were in. De corps could become the first Asian American woman nominated to be Vice President for a major party here in the u. S. Also on the possible shortlist is georgia representative stacey abrams. We know that whom ever joe biden picks will be a good partner to help us turn this country around were still must restore the soul of america and build back better thats what we need were watching an economy in freefall and our only pathway to recovery is to have a leader like joe biden whos actually done this job before who understands the Public Health crisis and the economic crisis that we face and thats what i look forward to having biden do for us in january. Now while biden did say that he could make his vp pick maybe this week but more likely next all signs are that he will definitely make the selection before the Democratic National convention which dont forget is scheduled to kick off on august 17th. In other National News lawmakers are expected to resume talks about the next Coronavirus Relief package. Democratic leaders and the white house held a round of meetings over the weekend though no agreement was reached treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin says that while there are some areas where the parties remain deeply divided. There are also other areas where they have agreement. The president wants us to get a deal done quickly because this is important to the American People. Now i would just say across both parties there are Different Things that are very contentious. The democrats right now are insisting on over a trillion dollars to the state and local governments thats something that were not going to do to bail out. Those states that had Financial Issues but theres definitely areas of agreement things like that pp pay i think theres enormous bipartisan support things about checks in the mail i think theres enormous a bipartisan result so mark meadows and i will be back there every day until we reach an agreement. Well the for actions that democrats are demanding in the next package or a renewal of the 600 weekly unemployment payments through the end of the year. Rent and homeowner protections. Money for state and local governments and money for schools. Gop negotiators say they could agree to that 600 amount but only for a short term. The president is spending spreading disinformation about the virus and she is his and she is his appointees so i dont have confidence that theyre not. Thats house.
