Especially up in the north bay today that moisture plume is sitting a bit further out into the coast. What that means is areas further north bolton mendocino counties will see the opportunity of an isolated thunderstorm. Well we really take a step back from that in the bay area today so worrying less about any sort of heavy rain or thunderstorm but still having to worry about the heat that we are going to be seeing. 80s 90s and triple digits back in play with livermore concord antioch at one of 3 to 106 degrees. Napa and santa rosa also triple digits and upper 80s in hayward mideighties in oakland, San Francisco right at 80 degrees today. Ive got more details on what to expect right where youre at this forecast. Still ahead daria. Thanks a lot john lets get to the breaking news now for big wildfires are burning across the east bay and in the north bay this morning. They were sparked likely by lightning. Lets take a look at a map that shows you where these 4 fires are burning yeah right in the east bay absolutely will begin their the marsh a complex fires burning near the small regional world in this area in Alameda County in fact lets show you the back now. Its right there at the border alameda and Santa Clara County its been burning since sunday. I think we can bring that map up in any event farther up in Contra Costa County. The deer zone fires are burning out of control thats near mount diablo on the backside just to the east of clayton they were sparked on sunday. So heres that map and again were going back to the marsh creek fire burning again, right there in that border area between alameda and Santa Clara County in a moment, you see the map slide up here to Contra Costa County and thats where the deer zone fire is burning again its on the back side of mount diablo impacted communities east of clayton. So firefighters are working on those fires also in the north bay were looking up in napa county the hennessy fire exploded yesterday to 2400 acres in size again were near a lake hennessy and then the gamble fire which you can see up there near Lake Berryessa it broke out yesterday. So far burning 600 acres. Lets go to our Team Coverage and of these fire Sarah Stinson is live in Alameda County at the marsh fire but were going to start with will tran who is live in napa county at the hennessy fire will. Dari i mean saint helene now want to quickly show our audience that scene helene a downtown is find you not to worry about that. But they want to get a handle on this fire because is slightly east of this location, theres a chance maybe it could come down to this location. So let me show you the video this fire broke out at around 6. 30. Yesterday morning initially was only a couple 100 acres. They jumped on it as quickly as they could but just like all the other fires that we have covered over the past couple of days. Theyre happening in a ragged remote area hard to reach and that allowed the hennessy fired up quickly spread that actually at around 11 oclock in the morning. They decided to issue 2 types a warning and Evacuation Order and an evacuation warning telling people just be prepared in case the fire spreads to close to their homes are lives are eminently in danger and get ready to move out reportedly we are hearing that one structure did go up in flames right now were not hearing of any injuries firefighters, theyre still there in the overnight hours to monitor the situation and we should get an update in about 90 minutes to 2 hours from now from cal fire but we do know that it is quickly spreading through this area, 24 to 2500 acres burned likely that number will grow to get a little bit bigger once we get an update in the meantime if you live in the north bay. You are fully aware that this is almost standard practice. Were always prepared for a fire early prepare every year we we fire safer. Our structures we prepare and buildings and when things like this happen we just execute our plan to to keep it as safe end free from fires we can. The fires can be overwhelming and he just got to do the best you can. I just want to give you an update on my current situation, my location, the breathing is not too bad, but the next time you see me will be even closer to that location. Its on Hennessy Ridge road which is several miles from this location. They have Police Barriers all of the plays so only the media are authorized personnel will be allowed in that location. Coming up at 5. 30 well be right there well see if we can talk to the authorities back to you darya feel ready to pretty warm out there. Its all a little bit warm right now not too bad, its a little its really comfortable let me say i mean considering everything that weve seen yesterday when i was out of livermore it almost feels arctic at this point but im sure once the sun comes up, it will not take long to pack that he and we talked about this yesterday dariann livermore im sure its the same situation here. Its already steep, its remote. Theres always a chance of slipping losing your balance and then you add to that triple digits and that really makes it even more dangerous for firefighters all right motion best thanks a lot. Well james and before we leave the north bay, lets give you quick update on the gamble fire thats that one thats also burning up in napa county. Near Lake Berryessa right along various in knoxville road. Its burned 600 acres so far 205 structures currently threatened and Evacuation Orders are in place. More than 300 firefighters are currently working right now to battle the flames. There this morning. Lets continue our coverage down of the news and go to sara stinson is she is in Alameda County following the fire there the marsh fire hows it looking right now. Daria i was here alive about 24 hours ago and i can say that where im at right now was not on fire at all it was just a grassy hill and now it is completely charred it gives you an idea of how much burned yesterday take a look at behind me im going to try and brightening up for you because it is so dark out here, but you can see theres a nice little log on this land behind me that is just continuing to burn and this entire hill is charred. You can feel the heat from the ground behalf of behind me take a look at video from yesterday though you can see in the daylight get a better idea of just how much it was burning yesterday, this fire the marsh complex fire is burning heavily and it consists of 3 grass fires that broke out sunday in the area of calaveras road and welsh creek road where im standing right now, im standing on calaveras road before you really get into the seminole regional wilderness area, mandatory evacuations remain in place for those who live on welsh creek road residents living in the remote area along. Killed care road were told to evacuate monday as the fire threatened their homes, those residents have been able safely return but the fire rages on in this area additionally an evacuation warning has been ordered for those who live in kill care canyon in signal. This was first issued as a mandatory Evacuation Order and has since been downgraded now this remains 0 contained and has burned 1775 acres thats a number that i reported yesterday at 00 30am in the morning so not a lot has changed in terms of updates from cal fire in the meantime people who live around here say that they were ready for this and theyll have to continue to be ready for whats to come. Its part of being in the woods, you and they all of us are ready all the time. At least hopefully everybodys ready not over which still got a good ways to go. Im thankful to god and the Fire Department that were were safe and sound now. Yeah, i think goodness that everyone is safe and sound some people were able to return but theyre sure theyre standing by to see whats next. So this morning were live here to show you the latest in to bring you the latest details from cal fire their firefighters from all over Alameda County yesterday saw Berkeley Hayward fremont a bunch of firefighters out here all working to contain this but still sitting at 0 i expect to get another update like i did yesterday around 8. 30 hopefully sooner because im very interested to see if they made any progress overnight for now live in tunnel Sarah Stinson kron 4 news, thanks. A lot sarah and the east bay a hot spot heat and fires hundreds of firefighters battling the deer zone fires. In Contra Costa County. Thats now more than 1400 acres. And there are mandatory evacuations in place in parts around that fire firefighters are working to contain the flames and one livestock emergency. Evacuation organization had their hands full. Were still getting full of people would you think we should go. Yeah accusation ordered its not mandatory should get out. It made its animals out in during the stay home stay home at animals on beltway. The last minute. The good news is no structures so far have been damaged in nobodys been hurt. And a fire burning in Monterey County is threatening 30 structures cal fire says the river fire has burned nearly 400 acres near salinas only about 10 contained right now. 4 firefighters had to be treated for heat injuries. This fire was also they think caused by sunday mornings lightning. Governor newsome has secured a Fire ManagementAssistance Grant from the federal Emergency Management agency to help ensure resources to help contain this fire or theyre when theyre needed. The grant will give up to 75 reimbursement for eligible Fire Suppression costs you can see theyre battling it from all fronts, the ground the air. So that people can cool off if you dont have a c they are going to be open this afternoon from one to 5 they have water there for you you do need a face mask of course we have more information on kron 4 dot com boom. Well, lets talk more about how hot its going to be and whether people are going to be those cooling centers. Well we already know the answer they are if they dont have a c because as daria can attest when sees out yeah miserable when the powers out you cant even get tough and 3 nights in a row last night was my first night of power now before that 100 degrees 3 nights in a row, no power thats been insane and it looks like weve got and how many more days left in this john, so it looks like today is your last day with the wall id spread triple digits like we have been saying thats not to say it will be hot in the days after that. But your average highs inland will fall into the 90s so there is a plus talking about the forecast today is the last one thats going to be excessively hot like we have been seeing Golden Gate Bridge. Its clear this morning, no surprise there weve been free of fog what we had been free of his thunderstorms that moisture plume that had been bringing us that tropical moisture and thunderstorms will sunday and monday shifting a bit further to the west so youre seeing the potential of thunderstorms. More in the northern part of the state now mendocino and del norte counties while the bay area just looks hot and dry like we have been seeing as we make our way through future cast you can see really no activity showing up so much less unsettled day today. Today tomorrow thursday, all looking similar a few clouds here and there skies, nice and dry and unfortunately the heat staying with us especially for inland valleys, thats excessive heat warnings in pink still winding up almost all the bay area now with the exception just the immediate coastline in San Francisco itself highs, well above 100 degrees for a lot of the bay area yet again still look at those numbers 70s 80s for San Francisco, 60s to 70s right along the coast, a couple of cool spots being montero at 67. Overnight at 71 today. Millbrae burlingame mid to upper 80s while 90s and saying Carlos Redwood city palo alto and Mountain View and down into the south bay also 90s to triple digits, san jose 97 for you today saint clair at 95 90s for fremont while union city and hayward of the 80s triple digits from Pleasanton Livermore double an through all that creek and up to concord oakland and berkeley at 85 degrees for your daytime highs today well again some of our hottest spots in the north bay yacht bill are hot spots today at one 07. Well vacaville sonoma pittsburgh in antioch each at one 06. Santa rose at one 02 in petaluma and center fell each at 98 degrees. Tomorrows temperatures cool just a few degrees were still going to be an under excessive heat warnings. But your average inland highs officially fall out of the triple digits and will fall further come thursday were will remain in the mid 90s on average inland through the upcoming weekend. Bayside areas also not as hot as weve been with highs falling into the 70s on average by thursday and back to that come saturday and sunday, coastal areas definitely staying youre most comfortable. Most highs in the 70s. James, all right john thank you a quick check of traffic now as we jump over to the bay bridge toll plaza. Our camera there showing us traffic still moving well. More cars obviously now than when we had our last update here but youre still moving without delay from oakland in the San Francisco from here, lets head south to the san mateo bridge are right on 92 also moving a pretty swiftly here. Youre at the limit across the span from richmond out towards i should say from hayward out towards foster city really the only problem or watching in the east bay is a solo vehicle accidents on 6. 80 just north of and roddy. But at this point looks like its off to the right hand shoulder, so it really shouldnt be impacting you if that is part of your commute. We have got to vote like we did in 2008 2012. Weve got to show up with the same level of passion and hope. For joe biden. Thats Michelle Obama as she was wrapping up the first night of the Democratic National convention encouraging everybody to get out and vote. The former first lady, also delivered a stunning rebuke of President Donald Trump karin caifa in washington dc has a look. The first night of their Virtual Convention spotlighting some stark realities, im one of the many who has lost a loved one to covid dogs should be alive today democrats delivering opening arguments that the bidenharris ticket can best year the nations recovery from the coronavirus crisis. Government matters and Leadership Matters and navigate the nations reckoning with racial injustice. We cant just say those words we have to live those words no issues playing into another theme of the evening of unity within the democratic party, the price of failure is just too great to imagine and outside of it, im sure there are republicans and independents who couldnt imagine crossing over to support a democrat. They fear, joe may turn sharp left and leave them behind. I dont believe that because i know the measure of the man the evening culminating in a sharply pointed critique of President Trump delivered by Michelle Obama her 4th and most overtly Political Convention speech donald trump is the wrong president for our country. He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. The former first ladys comments foreshadowing the theme of tuesday nights programming Leadership Matters in washington, im karin caifa. You can watch the Main Convention speeches streaming live on kron on the whole week long you can watch each night startin
