And Officials Say there were reports of the smell of gas yesterday which led them to a shed in the backyard of a home on this street. Finding hundreds of boxes filled with chemicals that youd see in a lab. As of now, the homeowner has not been located, but the brother was home and he is cooperating. However, hes not able to say where the homeowner is now. The bomb squad was called yesterday afternoon and theyve been investigating those hundreds of boxes since the team did have a shelterinplace sent out. But that quickly changed, which became an Evacuation Order to all homeowners within a 6 block radius. There is a red cross standing by offering a place for people to stay over at contra college off mission belt drive this morning. The sun is just starting to come up and you saw about 2 people try to get through this street to go into their homes and they denied saying that they are not allowed back in. They did help to happen cleared up by midnight. But obviously thats not the case. They are still out here and theyre still trying to figure out whats in those boxes and how to get them out safely. Im looking at a bomb squad pulling in right now as were alive. So obviously still very active scene. This time it happened tuesday night, right along 80 in fremont near highway. 84. Nobody was hurt. No word on a suspect. But there have been at least 26 freeway shootings. Now since the start of the year. Meanwhile, a second person has been arrested for shooting that left. One Person Injured in sunnyvale. That shooting happened early sunday morning along East Washington avenue. One man suffered multiple gunshot wounds was taken to the hospital for treatment. The first suspect gregory law was taken into custody and it was during the investigation that Police Identified fillman chi full as a second suspect. He was arrested yesterday at sfo while trying to board a flight to turkey. In the north say a man who had been shot and killed and was found in a local creek on tuesday night in vallejo. And police say body was found in austin creek near sacramento street by a vista avenue. Theres no word yet an idea on the person or on a suspect. But they say it is the 13th homicide of the year. There. All right. Well, happening today, former President Donald Trump is expected to appear in federal court in washington, d. C. , after being indicted now on 4 criminal charges. Governor gavin newsom has sent Florida Governor and gop president ial hopeful ron desantis, a formal offer to take part in a debate this fall. In a statement, newsom spokesperson said, quote, Governor Newsom has been challenging desantis to debate for months and sent him a formal debate offer last week. Desantis should put up or shut up. I spoke with Council Member dan kalb about the state stepping in and oakland. Violent crime is up 15 according to police data, burglaries are up. 39 robberies of increased. 22 and vehicle theft is up. 49 calls for help to 911. Are spiking as staffing within the Oakland Police department continues to decline. Right now were on a significant uptick. Uptick is a mild statements understand that year and the concern that people are feeling. And the desire to not to feel our job is to make sure that people not only feel safer, the actually are safer in their neighborhoods in effort to help the city address the spike in crime. Governor gavin newsom is sending california Highway Patrol officers to help Oakland Police respond to vehicle thefts, sideshows, highway violence and organized crimes. Oakland city Councilmember Dan kalb says in years past when the city has requested backup from chp, they have found sometimes chp will take over some of traffic and transportation related duties and that freeing up the opd officers to do the serious crime working 911, whatever that whatever i think its fine.
