I want to zoom on in because most of the activity left over from that cold front that pass through is over in the central valley. Some light showers and were sad and some sierra snow moving on now. This low pressure system that cool this down and brought us some rain is now moving east. High pressure will be taking over and well be bringing us clear skies. Also warm temperatures expecting low 90s in our inland valleys. So not a heat wave, but definitely some increase a fire risk. Coming up, student loan payments resume today. What you need to know about paying them back. But first, the final day of the state. Gop convention has wrapped up. Were hearing from the party chair ahead of upcoming election season. Thats next. Welcome back kron. 4 news is your local election headquarters. Today marks the final day. Whats been a busy weekend for republicans at the state Gop Convention in anaheim, capitol correspondent Eytan Wallace spoke oneonone with the party chair. He joins us with her message heading into election 2024. Well, keep in mind, registered democrats outnumber registered republicans by about 2 to one in the state of california. But state gop chair Jessica Millan patterson says dont let that fool you. She believes state republicans can and will play a major role over who holds power. In washington, its an exciting time to be California Republicans. Thats the feeling of california gop chair Jessica Millan patterson. As we inch closer to election optimism comes as her party wraps up his threeday convention in anaheim. Those spoke here include president ial candidates, donald trump, ron desantis, tim scott and fake ramaswamy. They would be too much better job than joe biden and Dumpster Fire that hes put together while Republican Leaders acknowledge the eventual gop president ial nominee will face a major uphill battle to win this blue state in the general election. Patterson believes California Republicans will play a major role in which party takes control of the u. S. House of representatives. She argues thats exactly what happened over the last 2 cycles. Picked up 5 Republican House seats right here in california. We currently hold a 4 seat house majority. And so we are the reason republicans hold the house. Now what our job is going to be in this next cycle is make sure that we hold on to those seats. But were going on the offense. That offense, he says, includes a partnership with the Republican National committee to open what the party described as Community Centers across the state, including the animal valley, bakersfield and Little Saigon. These Community Centers arent the typical Campaign Headquarters where theyre opened up a few months before the election. And we do phone banks, increasing trucks. We do that too. But were also there year round in our Little Saigon headquarters. You can come in for a tai chi class and were helping people get their citizenship to swap. The hopes he says is to reach diverse voters in key ta some districts, districts experts say could make all the difference in 2024, even though republicans here have not been competitive on a statewide basis and some years those house seats are critical to which party will control congress if Kevin Mccarthy is going to remain as the of the house of representatives to a large degree, its going to come down to how well republicans can do in his home state california. And so here we go. Were just about 5 months away until primary election day, march 5th, 2024 reporting in tom wallace kron 4 news. Starting today, student loan payments have resumed. A wall street journal report says up to 100 billion dollars could be taken out of consumers wallets in the next year due to payments back in march of 2020 loan payments were paused due to the coronavirus pandemic to help families on average loan borrowers will be paying an estimated 200 to 300 monthly meaning spending on gas, groceries, retail and even housing will be trimmed to save straining budgets. All right. Now to our 4 zone forecast taking a live look. I believe this is from our sutro tower cam and that is Golden Gate Bridge. Karl, the fog has moved on in this evening. You can just see the top of the bridge towers, the weve got gayle ong here to talk a little bit more. Im a little nervous karls going to come in over fleet week. Pull models are showing sunny skies and over at the Golden Gate Bridge some lingering clouds. We did have that cold front that moved. Over our area and that brought us some light rain, cloudy skies, cooler temperatures well below the average. Well, things are about to change, but we are mostly clear across the bay area. You can see partly cloudy skies from this view from our mount tam can actually see the city. Usually this is shattered with the fog stormtracker 4. You see the view quiet here in the bay area. Just some activity over here in the central coast, some light showers. And were said and some light snow over in the sierra. Theyve been busy with some snow. So possibly some measurable snow there from the weekend. Now we have a change in the weather pattern this low pressure system thats been cooling us down is moving east and now we have High Pressure that will be taking over this week. So expect some warmer temperatures and definitely dry temperatures thats going to be taking over. So our inland valleys, were going to see a gradual warming trend starting monday into tuesday. And then it looks like that heat starts to peak thursday into friday and with this change in the weather pattern, we can expect an increased risk of fire danger as we are heading into the month of october, which is typically the peak fire season. So we may see some sparks, but thankfully, firefighters have been putting them out really quickly. This season future cast for lets see what your next couple of days look like. Morning clouds to roll in along the beaches and then things clear out in the afternoon. So thats going to be that typical pattern for mainly the rest of the week end, including the weekend because i know last year it was really a foggy. The fog took over and that the show did get canceled last week last year, other fleet week. But lets get to your monday morning because youll be in the upper 40s santa rosa. And then everyone else is in the 50s daytime highs. So well still be near normal averages and low 80s inland 60s by the coast. 70s by the bexar extended forecast. So definitely going to feel like summer wednesday. May notice that offshore breeze, but not an aggressive one that can cause like serious fire danger. But look at this. Its going to feel like summer next weekend. And this may be that we like little bit in october. But actually, i think a lot of folks are ready for sweater weather to come back. So this may be sure live. Usually we as you know, living in the bay area. We see this. Heat spike and the fall and then it starts to cool down until about march or springtime. At least its coming at the right time next weekend. To have. Well be keeping an eye on thanks, gayle. Youre welcome. Coming up next, in sports
