But the town has been one of the hardest hit areas, especially lately. Indeed it has. Oakland police and the mayor met with reporters tuesday to let residents know they are doing something about a 41 increase in auto burglaries so far this year, there have been almost 11,000 of them. I truly believe that we deserve better. All of us, whether youre a business in divisional, part of the community, we all deserve better than to feel as if we are unsafe. The Police Departments Violent Crimes and cease fire units are stepping up operations targeting auto burglars last thursday alone in 3 separate operations. They arrested 7 individuals, 6 of whom have been charged. Police also recovered burglary tools, stolen property and firearms were going to be out there. A lot more folks in on this. Trying to prevent these crossman kern trying to investigate these things to find peoples property. Theyre taking in one recent incident. The suspects rammed a police car trying to escape. Police say auto burglars have become more brazen and more violent and they recommend victims dont engage with them. A lot of these individuals have arm and their dangers. As you can see what happened to our officers in this incident, they got ramp. It could have turned deadly. And so we dont want people to risk their personal safety over over personal belongings that you know, that they can acquire some other day is just not worth it. And while officials admit they do have limited resources, they say the special operations will continue. Were standing together. Police say the children who died were not related and investigators are now raising questions, of course, about how they ended up in that pool. Kron fours. Rob nesbitt has the latest now from san jose. This is the home in san jose that happy happy daycare is located and where 2 children drowned on monday. On monday, there was a lot of Police Activity on this street. Now its a much quieter neighborhood. No answer at the front door of happy, happy day care. And san jose tuesday. 24 hours after 3 children fell into a pool at the home daycare at 2 of them drowned. This is the type of call. Thats the worst that a parent can receive. San jose police sympathizing with the parents of the young victims both under the age of 5 officer steve aponte says investigators are working to figure out how the children were able to access the pool area. There a walkway that leads from the back door sliding door into the back area. There access point into the pool area and somehow along the way, there are ways that those doors opened up. The timeline of the drowning is still under investigation. The nonprofit courtneys cause works to prevent drownings and creative director kathryn rich says constant supervision is essential with children near any body of water as well as other precautions. There could have been alarms fun doors and windows. There could have an alarm on the water. Their son learned that goes off. If people if something disturbed the water when its not supposed according to rich daycares are supposed to have one adult supervising for every 6 children.
