The city of San Francisco has committed to have the program up and running by 2025 and will have 33 cameras in total. They can only be on streets that are in school zones. Or or our streets that have shown very high crash rates walk San Francisco who is in favor of the speed cameras say they understand the privacy concerns but believe this bill was tailored to address those concerns. The bill was scrapped and so carefully because of those privacy concerns. And its, you know, these cameras, they only take a picture if you are going more than 11 miles over the speed limit. Its only a photo of the license plate. That is not in the polices. And its in the transportation departments hands. And then theres a very limited amount of time they hold on to that data. But not all groups are for this move. The nonprofit called oakland privacy has concerns about privacy inequity. And as to privacy advocates, were always concerned when cities pickup sort of a new tranche of peoples personal information that theyre keeping certainly here in oakland. We know all about the government being. Oakland mayor sheng thao releasing this statement saying Assembly Bill 6. 45 will allow oakland to utilize cameras to enforce speed limits while ensuring the privacy and safety of our residents. These cameras, along with our increased focus on street design and lowering speed limits will help save lives. San jose is also committing to installing several cameras around the city. Police telling me 3 people are dead and 7 are injured, adding that the city is now at 103 homicides for this year allowed adding that it is the 4th consecutive year. They were 3 shootings with the first happening around 8. 30, on the 7300 block of well street that left one person injured. The second was a shootout between a vehicle and 2 people that were walking on the 4500 block of melrose avenue at around 10, 15 with no injuries reported 15 minutes later at 10, 30, there was another person that was shot and killed with 2 others injured. Peralta hacienda historical park in east oakland. Saturday nights violence started at around 06 00pm with an altercation between 2 people on the 4500 block of market street. It was a firearm waived in a victim that was struck with it, followed by december 3 shootings. The first was at 7. 45. On the 4200 block on Martin Luther king junior way where one person was shot dead. Then just after 8. 30, another person was shot and taken to a hospital on the 4500 block of merit avenue. At 11, 30 another person was shot dead on the 10,800 block of bancroft avenue with an additional person showing up a nearby hospital later with a gunshot wound. The last shooting took place sunday afternoon at around 12. 45 on the 2000 block of 35th avenue leaving one person shot and injured. Currently the city of oakland has no police chief. And one of the bills newsom signed into law raises the minimum wage for health care workers. 2. 25 an hour over the next decade. The law was an unexpected win for health care workers. Californias Medicaid Program must increase payments to hospitals by billions of dollars to cover this expense. Its the second minimum wage increase signed by newsom this year last month. The raise the minimum pay for fastfood workers to 20 per hour. And that is set to go into effect next year. Governor newsom also signed a bill allowing state officials to build a crypto regulation framework. The bill takes effect in july of 2025, the goal is to keep investors say from fluctuating stock prices brought on by this new cryptocurrency and the firms that run it another bill that was signed into law allows mexican residents who live close to the border to attend California Community college and pay instate tuition. The Biden Administration is introducing a bill that could help first time homebuyers get a new home. President biden is proposing 16 billion dollars for the Neighborhood Homes tax credit. He says it would help families buy a home and make repairs to existing homes. President biden had has also proposed an additional 10 billion dollars to help with a down Payment Assistance Program for first generation homebuyers. So that means that your parents cant own.
