Diana taylor has organized efforts to plea with walgreens and the city to stop the closure. But unfortunately, theyve had no look what we found out that it wasnt about. Human needs or what the community needs. It was all about the numbers. A spokesperson for walgreens tells kron 4 the locations closure is due to a significant decrease in foot traffic since the pandemic. But thats not what we saw while walking in the area with alec bash who lives just blocks away. I think weve got put your foot traffic in this area and we have more and more every fashion taylor are among those worried about seniors not having access to a nearby pharmacy. The new years walgreens will now be a half mile away on montgomery street. Taylor says this closure will take away their independence. The seniors, theyre terrified. They feel like they dont have any choice if people on walkers. Warren wheelchairs, houston, to cage walking along and other longtime residents worry this will only hurt the progress the city is making in the downtown area. Well, things closing thats taken away or amenities and i worry that people can start start moving out of the because what we have. I talked to the folks from macys that was not mentioned in its factors to close because it was about its entire portfolio. Its about the profitability of the changes in retail and how people are shopping, how their online businesses is definitely doing very well. And they had to make some really hard decisions. And and the real estate that this macys is setting in is extremely valuable. So it may bring added that the next step is going to be a fine to use for the space thats profitable. Thle tunion square. Well, what was able to also speak to some shoppers and they were shocked and they were disappointed to find out. Macys is closing union square. Really sad about that sad about. And this likely to be one of the most significant of the season for the sierra. We have been talking earlier this year about how we were falling behind dispersed snowpack goes. But this one is going to tip us right over the edge, the other direction were looking at temperatures over the next 3 days and this year that are going to get bigger, cold down into the 20s at lake tahoe on saturday. And with that snowfall picking up starting tomorrow into saturday, dont expect to be heading up there during these days, nor heading back down to the bay area. This is really the core of the snowmaking days up in the sierra today is an easy travel dates back down. If you need to do that, if you are heading up there, prepare to be snowed in for a few days. Donner summit anywhere between 5 in 10 feet of snowfall. Thats the very highest elevations on i80 right there. That is likely going to result in multiple closures. Both on i80 as well as highway 50 notice that snow level also gets down to some very low elevations thats going to get down low enough that well see it on some of our mountain tops right here in the bay area. While most of us are seeing some really cold rain. Now, of course, this does mean that travel conditions are going to be very, very rough. In fact, the National Weather service has issued blizzard warnings for the sierra starting thursday through saturday. Snow level will fall as low as 2000 to even 1500 feet in elevation. Its very low down into the foothills. And again, once you get above 5,000 feet, shes going to be too much for those clouds to keep up with. Initially. So dont expected to be doing a lot of moving around. You are up in the sierra during these days. Just have those go bags ready. And of course, plenty of supplies last year, a couple days right now, though, the sierra the north coast and the bay is really quiet. Nothing going on out there just yet. In fact, today is going to be quite the warm day. We are seeing this nice little area of High Pressure just temporarily in right now, but low pushes on in from the gulf of alaska and along with it in trenches, some really cold air in across the region. So this is going to be a cold system. In addition to being s huge snow maker. That means the next several days for the bay area. Also going to get pretty chilly for us today. On the other hand, really nice and mild as we make our way towards the evening. Tonight, youll start to see a few clouds and then we get to tomorrow and well start to see some showers ahead of that cold front pushing in during the morning. Well see light to moderate showers at first picking up into the afternoon. Rainfall tomorrow for the bay area, anywhere between a quarter and a half an inch for most urban areas. But were going to add more on top of that by the time that we even just reach sunday, well have seen as much as 2 to even 3 inches up in our mountains and mostly over an inch for urban areas.
