You can see the snow all over the roads there and were going to be keeping you up to date with all that you need to know about the snow in the sierra croppers gayle ong. The snow is just keeps coming down of the blizzard warning was supposed to expire. 10 00am this morning to has now been extended until midnight on monday. So still a long ways to go there still getting snow. Its pretty busy on our radar, as you can see. Well pull that up for you here. We are starting to see light rain now in the bay area. But as i zoom on in here in the sierra, you still see all that blue on the map. So, yes, some snowfall there and definitely dangerous Road Conditions still as this blizzard warning is still in place that winter storm warnings as well. Expecting 2 to 4 feet above the 4,000 feet elevation so blowing snow. Wind gusts up to 40 miles an hour. You can see some trees down. Power outages out there. I know theres a lot of Power Outages in the truckee area that was reported earlier. So after this expires past midnight, this will be downgraded to a winter advisory. So still pretty treacherous as weve been showing you all weekend. Its taking caltrans some time to plow those roads and the ski resorts to dig out. Heres the rain totals back in here in the bay area. Seeing a break in the rain at the golden gate bridge. So we start to see this activity since thursday. Mount diablo picked up 3 inches of rain. Ben lowman just underneath that orinda almost 2 inches as well as San Francisco and san jose just over half an inch of rain. Expecting an unsettled pattern. So well start to see maybe a few raindrops light showers throughout the week. We are pretty calm with the wind speeds. Now its going to be all about the chilly temperatures once again theyll be a frost advisory in place again in the north bay. Down to the low 30s and then well be waking up to the 40s. Theres no estimated time of reopening. They have their snow blowers out there working on the streets because of the severe conditions. But the roads will remain closed. Chp South Lake Tahoe posting these pictures as a warning to drivers. This truck was trying to drive without chains in this car. Was going over the speed limit and on the wrong side of the road, that car collided and it was snow greater which clears the roads of snow. No injuries were reported. Chp posting on x that these are dangerous decisions and not smart. Back here at home. The southbank even saw some snow. Heres a timelapse from out hamilton, which is just east of san jose. This is the camera thats on top of the lick observatory. And you can see the snow piling up there and also getting on the lens of the camera and it piled up throughout the day and a little bit on the weekend. A show support for the Jewish Community rally against a rise in antisemitism. It and on saturday propalestine protesters demanded a ceasefire. Those demonstrations eventually clashing with police. The war between israel and hamas still heavy on the minds of people all across the bay area weekend. Protests taking over the streets of San Francisco, one for israel and the Jewish Community and the other, a pro palestine demonstration calling for a ceasefire in gaza. Together in this against antisemitism. Organizers say sundays unity march was about standing up against the rise in hate against the Jewish Community. Rachel, that says antisemitism has been surging since hamas is october attack on israel. And the war thats followed. But the last few people are afraid to go on the street say that i want to get all of those people the nation saying almost 10,000 people to feel say that their tuition route talk in front of city hall. The 37 yearold victim was crossing the road when an unknown driver hit them and then took off. The victims name is being withheld until family is notified. Were starting to see the rain activity diminishing thats expected to be that way until the overnight hours. Youll see some leftover lingering showers and a quick update from yesterdays wild weather. National Weather Service the had a team go out over to moss landing just south of watsonville to investigate that tornado warning. There is some rotation on the radar yesterday. So looks like theres no evidence of any damage of a tornado out there. Maybe it was a water spout that likely moved on to shore. So that just tells you how unstable the air has been the last few days. Now were getting quite a bit of a break. So this is overnight. 06 00am you have some cloudy skies for your drive . Maybe some light rain. Same thing for noon. It looks like youll see some run into some light. Very light rain here in napa in stockton, antioch. And then this is dinner time. So were going to stay unsettled. You may run into a shower or 2, but very light looks like the north coast onto the scene. This is tuesday morning. The north coast clear lake will get some rain over there and then maybe some more unsettled pattern into wednesday looks like well see sunshine again on thursday. So this is just how much rain were expecting over the next few days. You know, we picked up 3 inches since thursday. Now were seeing about a quarter to maybe half an inch of rain. So not as much. But, you know, its still be unsettled. And that here in tahoe. We we know this has been a snow maker. So this is a ski resorts. The totals over the last 72 hours, 5 to 7 feet. Thats going to be great for the long term. But treacherous on the roads as this blizzard warning has extended until midnight after that, it will downgrade to a winter pfizer east. So still going to be treacherous on the road. So tonight and for the overnight hours, so not safe as weve been showing you all that activity in the white out conditions. So im going take some time. For some, it was a nice to find some respite from the storm. Hot coffee in a hot meal goes a long way. And these frigid temperatures, some of those businesses were also a good place to find internet and power. We are open because were just part of the community. Alright, an update for sugar bowl resort in tahoe. This is video from instagram sugar bowl was able to reopen a couple of runs today and they got there a gondola running. But their website says they have gotten 113 inches of snow in the past 7 days, which is pretty incredible. Kron. 4 your local election headquarters. More than 20 million registered voters in california have gotten a ballot in the mail. But as for how many sent back, its not a lot. The ballots are out. But according to Political Data Voter Information Service tracking ballot and voter trends of the 22 million ballots sent out just 2 and a half million have been returned. That means statewide turnout so far is just 11 political. Dana says, based on these trends, turnout return. A ballot is going to be. Close to 60 . Seniors were there about a quarter of the registered voters. Whats important is that when turnout drops california doesnt drop equally for all populations.
