San francisco and oakland showing five of the Worlds Largest oil and Gas Companies for the effect of Climate Change and the cost of building the seawalls and other infrastructure to protect against the rising sea levels. It targets chevron, exxon mobil, conoco phillips, bp and Royal Dutch Shell and accusing the companies of ignoring warnings that the fossil fuels calls catastrophic Global Warming and for trying to discredit the signs of Climate Change. They say they have created a public nuisance. Reporter for decades they are aware of the risk of the products and the exposure to the planets but decided to continue the mass production of the fossil fuels. Two other counties and one city have filed a similar lawsuit and chevron says it welcomes the attempt to address the Climate Change but that the lawsuits dont do that and the other Oil Companies have not yet commented. The california judge says that the state attorney general description on the repeal of the new gas tax is misleading. The Sacramento Superior Court judge said that the attorney general ballot title focuses on eliminating the road repair funding instead of clearly saying that the bill would repeal the new gas taxes and other fees. In april lawmakers voted to increase the gas taxes and the vehicle fees beginning november 1 in order to raise 5 billion a year further road repairs. The judge will consider the case on friday.
