Right now you can see the storm reports scattered around portions of the south, and you can see reports of tornado in parts of louisiana this morning as barry continues to move to the north. Right now tropical depression with winds at 85 miles per hour, moving north at about nine miles per hour. There is the current position, on track to move into arkansas over the next 12 hours or so. A few areas picking up rainfall from over one inch in new orleans, portions of the mississippi picking up over 4 inches, and as you can see in portions of alabama, where than 5 inches of rainfall and more on the way as it continues to move up to the north. As far as our local forecast, we have a few changes to talk about as well, we will have more on that in a few minutes. Permit the gulf coast is bracing for more flooding as barry makes its way through the region. There is particular concern about the levees in new orleans. Reporter storm barry is weakening as it moves northward, but because of the risk of flash flooding, people in louisiana are not out of the woods yet. Louisiana residents hit with heavy rain and wind on saturday, barry briefly reaching hurricane strength as it meets landfall on the southern louisiana coastline. The storm still has a long way to go before it leaves the state. It continues to move very slowly. Barry, then expected to move across mississippi and eastern arkansas, its still a slow moving storm with the potential of heavy rain as it heads north. In advance of the approaching storm, the city of new orleans closed its floodgates for the first time in 12 years. They were reopened last night, another sign that the worst may be over. A 46yearold woman is under arrest on suspicion of drunk driving after she rolled her car in a residential neighborhood. Police say amy davidson hit another car on boris court at about 11 40 leslie, the car then rolled onto its side. Police say she climbed out of a window after the crash and had a minor injury, no one else was hurt. Officers say her blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. She was arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail. Antioch police have issued a silver alert after an elderly man went missing last night. 85yearold hugh webster was last seen saturday at 7 30 pm near lonetree way and deer valley road. Police say he doesnt know his way around antioch, he is described as six feet tall, about 175 pounds and was last seen wearing a 49ers jacket and a giants hat. Anyone with information is asked to contact antioch police. Two men have been arrested for starting a wildfire that has burned nearly 1200 acres north of reno. Authorities said the men notified sheriffs deputies that they started the fire yesterday while target shooting and dry grass. At least one building has been destroyed but no injuries have been reported. The fire started at about 3 00 yesterday afternoon in sun valley nevada and is now 30 contained. Police say that the two men were arrested on suspicion of destruction of property through gross negligence. The power is back on in manhattan today, but for several hours last night parts of the city were plunged into darkness. The lights went out at radio city music hall and Jennifer Lopez concert at Madison Square garden came to an abrupt halt. People were trapped in elevators and subway cars and traffic lights were knocked out. Authorities say that tens of thousands of people were without power for several hours. The power was fully restored at about midnight, and thankfully, no one was hurt or killed. This could have been much worse. When you are talking about the city lights of new york, with a significant piece of the city, basically suffering a blackout, that could be a very chaotic situation. Con edison has apologized for the outage but has offered no explanation for what caused it. The company says they are still investigating to powerful earthquakes struck today at the pacific rim.
