This morning a carjacking out of San Francisco came to an end in oakland overnight. Police say someone stole the car in the city in the morning and Police Ultimately chased it into oakland. It ended on the offramp from 580 eastbound that is why other surface streets had to be close. The area is back open at this time. Police in richmond searching for suspects in a deadly shooting last night around 11 pm near 18 the street and chancellor. When the Police Arrived they found the victim who died later at a hospital. The investigation continues. The city of fremont is facing opposition to a proposed Navigation Center to serve the homeless. The vice mayor says they did not think it would be this difficult but it has been trying to find a site for the center. A lot of residence are not happy about the proposed locations. They are letting city leaders know about it know about it. Hundreds of people packed the City Council Meeting and the crowd overflowed. A Navigation Center discussion was not even on the agenda but it did not stop more than 200 people signing up for public comment. They are opposed to two new proposed sites for shelters. Both locations would be on city owned land and the vice mayor says he feels a lot of it is driven by fear. Both groups are now unhappy. Originally it was the dakota neighbors but now i am getting petitions from city hall neighbors. Ultimately we will have to make a decision that somebody will be unhappy with. The city leaders say they have narrowed down the city hall site and dakota site because both are near Public Transportation and the goal is to house up to 45 people for about half a year and ultimately get them into permanent housing. The city wants to open the center by nextyear and say the homeless published in has jumped 27 in two years. They hope to finalize a location in september. This is not the last that residents will likely speak out. The city will host two meetings next month where people can continue to voice concerns. The Berkeley City Council took a big step toward phasing out the use of natural gas in new buildings. They report the entire counsel voted that Natural Gas Pipelines will not be allowed in many new holding projects getting genuine first.
