Former Massachusetts Governor bill willed is also running for the republican nomination. Authorities say a Los Angeles County sheriffs deputy who says he was shot in a station parking lot was lying. The reported sniper assault was the fabrication of Angel Reynosa, a 22yearold deputy. On thursday the Department Said a round hit the top of his sher, damaging uniform but failing to penetrate his flesh. The department, however, ss no bullets were recovered and detectives saw no visible injuries. Reynosa eventually admitted to making the story up and using a knife to cut holes in to his shirt. Unfortunately, at this time we are incredibly disappointed to have to report to you that the reported sniper assault was fabricated by our deputy. The investigation is ongoing and a criminal investigation has been launched. Reynosa has been relieved of his duties and will face a criminal investigation. Vallejo Fire Department has contained a twoalarm fire that started early this morning at a mobile home park. The fire was reported just after midnight along broadway street and sonoma boulevard. Officials say two mobile homes were on fire. The cause of the fire still under investigation. An 87yearold holocaust survivor is facing eviction. His rent is subsidized through the Government Program section 8. But as greg explains, his landlord is now raising the rent to market rates and forcing him out. Were also here today because theres a landlord who owns the building across the street who told the media shes not a monster, she just wants to kick them out so she can make more money. Reporter the councilman is referring to the landlord who owns the dunes, an Apartment Building on alameda shoreline drive where this man has called home for the last 17 years. The 87yearold spoke to the crowd in russian. He says his landlord will no longer accept section 8 and is evicting him in order to raise rent on his twobedroom apartment 700 a month to 3200. His daughter interpreted how he said he feels. Under this condition is like a death sentence. And this should not be happening. I just thought, we got to do something about people who are 80 years old that are going to be evicted. It comes down to how much truly is enough. Reporter alameda recently passed an ordinance to protect renters from certain evictions. Weve had multiple complaints of section 8 tenants being evicted without cause. We passed a just cause ordinance but there was a loophole in it that exempted section 8 tenants. Reporter the city council will take up an emergency ordinance next month, aimed at protecting senants from socalled evictions. Hes very, very anxious and hes hoping the city will do the right thing and protect him. That emergency record innocence will be voted on september 3rd. Four out of the five Council Members have to vote in favor for it to pass. If it happens, it would take effect immediately and could give him and others a legal leg to stand on to fight that eviction. Police say a 17 xreerld yearold girl has turned herself in. Police say a 19yearold woman and a 17yearold boy were both stabbed on friday just before midnight near west hamilton avenue. The young woman was released from the hospital yesterday but we do not know the boys condition this morning. Police say the boy knows the suspect but theyve not released a motive for the stabbing. The girl was taken to Juvenile Hall on two counts of deadly assault with a weapon. A car crashed into a bus stop and injured an officer and suspect. It happened near geary boulevard and webster street. This is video posted on the citizen app from the scene. They say the Unmarked Police car was responding when the crash happened. The suspect suffered lifethreatening injuries and the officer is expected to recover. Time now is 7 09. San jose police are searching for a driver involved in a deadly hitandrun crash, happened after 3 30 yesterday morning on Santa Theresa boulevard and san ignacio avenue. A pickup truck hit a passat. The driver of the passat died at the scene. Police say the pickup truck driver took off on foot. If you may have witnessed a crash or have any information relating to it, youre asked to give the San Jose Police department a call. The mountain fire in Shasta County is holding at 600 acres burned and 70 contained. Thats up 10 saturday afternoon. Fire started near Bear Mountain and dry creek road. Mandatory evacuations and road closures are in effect in the area. Cal fire says homes and several outbuildings have been destroyed. Two minor injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Lets give you a look at where the mountain fire is burning. This is north of the town of bella vista which is about 15 miles northeast of redding and that is not far from where last julys car fire destroyed more than a thousand homes and claimed eight lives. Fire crews are also battling a large fire along the californianevada state line. The fire has burned 1500 acres and is at 0 containment. An Evacuation Center has opened up at Cold Springs Middle School. Dozens of homes are threatened but none have been lost at last check. Happening today, the city of berkeley is in the final wildfire evacuation drill of the month. City leaders have been focusing on areas near the berkeley hills. Todays drill will happen between 9 00 and 10 00 this morning and be near the uc Berkeley Campus. Along the border of contra costa county. Not everyone in the neighborhoods there will be required to join the drill. People were encouraged to sign up ahead of time. Emergency officials have encouraged people to figure out at least two ways to get out safely from their neighborhoods and a car and two other if they have to walk out. Theyre also reminding people to have a go bag that has all the things theyd need to take out if there were an actual fire emergency. Mountain view man facing charges of possessing stolen property after an elaborate scheme that started two months ago. 68yearold jose barreneceha was arrested for alledgedly stealing a pickup truck. He then arranged to meet the owner of the truck that was for sale and take it for a test drive but he didnt come back with the truck. Police say he was trying to sell the truck to somebody else.
