Or a relaxing train horn. Its more of an alert. And it goes on. It startles you and usually theyll blow that thing when they want someone to get out of the way and its a federal law so every time you watch a train come to the crossing youll notice they have to blow their horn. So now you know something that you can use at a party and if you go to that party it sounds like a boring party but whatever. Lets go out and take a look at 101 from gill roy to san jose. It looks pretty good all the way up through. Theres a little bit of slowing in morgan hill but for the most part no major problems. Northbound80 right there looks good getting up highway 17. Construction work in hopeland has picked up and traffic is doing well. The bay bridge a back up not huge between five and ten minutes and its a little bet less if you are using the car pool lane. Actually if you are using the car pool lane its more like two minutes. Lets bring steve in with todays weather. Thank you sir. Youre welcome. Our weather had a little bit of cloud cover popping up from monsoon moisture to the south around Santa Cruz Mountains to gill roy. So its hot antd fog deck and low clouds around as well and the lasting images from riau some of that popping up and not expecting rain out of it expecting build ups there and what we call dry thunderstorm activity. A lot of that is focused on the east and south and some of it is sneaking up, pretty good thunderstorms in the mountains and better opportunities for tahoe and truckee today. Theres also a little low to the west that might as well with this south wind coming in and tend to enhance a little bit in this activity. Partly cloudy today and 50s and 60s. We also have fog and towards santa peculiara valley beginning to fill in. 61 is popular. One in san jose, one in campbell and morgan hill in martin and gill roy. Upper 50s to mid 50s all at 58. Water temperatures came down. 54 to 59. Much colder than last week when they were 60 to 64 so we are seeing a little change there. That will help. Theres a northwest wind on the coast helping. Absolutely no breeze. Were kind of caught in between but the upper atmosphere has a south wind bringing in moisture. Again looks like a little better opportunity for tahoe today than yesterday. Most of that was to the east and also the south but it is inching closer and for us a little bit of moisture coming in from the south air conditioning well. So south today maybe santa peculiara valley also build up. T low to the west as ts mostly well might produce clouds to the north. If you are inland not enough of a breeze. 60s and 70s and monsoon moisture could give a little bit of build up there for us and cumulus clouds 60s to 90s to break this down but there are signs that it will by the time we get to the weekend. Lows squeaking through and cooler for all on saturday and nice on sunday. All right. Thank you steve. A new stadium for the oakland as is a little closer to reality. Oakland police are using Surveillance Video to try to pin down thieves who stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of laptops from one public school. Ktvu tells us that multiple schools already since the start of the new school year. When staff arrived at mark ham elementary on krause avenue in the morning they quickly saw they had a problem. They walked in and saw the glass all over and broken windows. Sometime during the Holiday Weekend thieves broke in. Principal anita summerland showed us one of seven classrooms where windows were broken but since thieves entere and got their hands on locked storage boxes they pried open to steal 68 croak book laptops. The look on the students faces was of devastation. They take pride in their computers. They take pride in the technology of the school and they were totally devastated. Thieves dropped this particular laptop and left it in the school yard. The devices have distinct markings of the district and are used for statewide tests as well as lessons in reading, writing and math. Our students here really depend on these chrome books in their education. This is the 21st century. Not having those materials really sets these kids back. In january the same school was robbed of 40 kindle ereaders. What happened here in mark ham is not an isolated incident. In fact this calendar year alone theyve had thousands of dollars worth of equipment stolen and have spent thousands more on repairs at other locations. Paul shows us the surfers who have been out despite mandatory evacuation orders on the coast. We have seen changing conditions but the winds really picked up. The first band came through and the sky opened uche and it was really intense. A bit of a reprieve and if you get a look at the inland the foreground is choppy and the background the ocean waves are coming in and yesterday there were a lot of surfers out there saying they wanted to get in the last chance of surfing before access to the island is potentially cutoff. St. Diamonds island is under a mandatory evacuation but there is still a lot of people here. The issue with this island is theres one causeway, the torres causeway and that is the only way on and the only way off the island so when conditions get bad enough the causeway will close down and for the folks who dont evacuate they are stuck here on the island. However many of the folks here that we talk to say they dont want to evacuate because when the causeway shuts down theyre not able to get back to their homes some cases for days and theyre not willing to leave their homes for that long.
