Morning highs and above average for everybody in this will be the warmest day of the were below on both. Moving up south to north, 40s, 50s and 60s and tomorrow, the warmest with low 50s for others. Mid50s around san jose and santa clara and the system will give higher clouds with sunrise giving higher clouds and then mostly sunny with a slight offshore breeze and a northerly or easterly breeze in place with warm temps. 70s, 80s and near 90. 6 02. We begin with the bridges, getting crowded. Right now, some slow traffic approaching the toll plaza, typical for 6 00 with metering lights on for about 45 minutes or so and there is a backup and no big problem on the bridges right now that we know of. We will watch the chp list. Its getting more crowded with the typical commute and this is a look at 880 and it doesnt look too slow in front of the coliseum an 880 south between 238 and hayward is a little bit slow and then it picks up for the drive through union city and fremont. You are not too late. A little slow in pleasanton heading south but south bay is off to a nice start. 6 02 and back to the desk. A deadly stabbing last night in san jose. Ktvu has allie rasmus at the intersection of 33rd and alum rock. Reporter they are collecting evidence and this section of the intersection will be closed off. It is shut down behind us with several police cars along alum rock through highway 101, the offramp and then you cant exit because of this scene. The stabbing was around 9 30 last night and started as a fight between several people. One man died. Investigators are collecting evidence at the scene using flashlights and evidence markers lined the sidewalk along alum rock avenue near a gas station and other businesses. Police do not know what led up to the fight involving several people. They found a man suffering from a stab wound and he was rushed to the hospital. No suspects are identified and there are no arrests but thof t be released until the family is notified. For now, alum rock avenue between 33rd and 101 rem shut down. Police are asking anyone who may have seen this to help this year. The time is 6 04 and more than 500 acres have burned in napa county and its only 30 contained. It started along American Canyon road just after 3 00 p. M. And there is dry brush in the nearby hills with the fire reported as being small but it quickly grew and became very dangerous. The wind blew down slope toward the American Canyon. I was watching it come over the hillside and it was two in as well as five other aircraft in the city of vallejo and napa county also sent in fire crews and the evacuation was called for several hours but lifted a couple of hours later and we are expecting to hear from cal fire and the next few hours to find out how much progress was made overnight. The power is back on for pg e customers after it was turned off over the weekend. They were forced to shut off power in butte, plumas and yuba county. And the outages are part of the safety shutoff program. Power lines could be knocked down from strong wind and many customers were victims of the last years camp fire sparked by downed pg e lines. Power outages are frustrating for many in rural areas. I understand the wind and the fire condition and the fire fuel and pg es neglect of their infrastructure, taking care of their infrastructure and maintaining that. Frankly, this just sucks. The pg e crews inspected 1000 miles of power lines to make sure there was no damage. Napa was the only bay area county that might have a safety shutoff at the power stayed on, even though there was a fire burning in American Canyon. The outages have become more common with red flag warnings and most of the businesses in the napa area have a plan in place. When the power goes out here, we make sure that the fish stays cold. It is a struggle but we get it done. We have drivers on standby at the factory in petaluma that can be here within one hour with a refrigerated truck and we can move products quickly. Many Business Owners and managers think the pg e proactive shut offs are smart and the loss of a couple of hours of business does not compare to a loss of property or life. This is Fire Prevention week and this year, firefighters have a new slogan. Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape.
