Some of the people who were quarantined at Travis Air Force base are leaving the bay area today. Ktvus Sara Zendehnam joins us live with an update. Theyre expected to leave at 7 00 this morning. We know that one bus will head to Sacramento International airport and another bus will come right here to sfo. The 13day quarantine ended yesterday. A bus got to sfo yesterday afternoon and also dropped people off here. Another bus left travis just before 7 30 a. M. Yesterday. These evacuees got on a state chartered flight. The cdc says 180 people staying at travis were medical clooe cleared and their quarantine orders were lifted. We talked to one man about how hes feeling now that hes free to go home and his time on base. Its good to be out of the quarantine. The treatment at the base was very good. The meal quality was good. The staff was very friendly. It was nice. I mean, other than the fact that we couldnt leave for two weeks it was very nice. Other state department chartered flights landed at Travis Air Force base this month. One on february 7th from wuhan and later this week their quarantine will be lifted. Newly quarantined Cruise Ship Passengers who came to travis from japan on february 16th are being held in a separate area and are also still under the 14 day quarantine. People housed at travis say they had their temperatures checked twice a day and were monitored to show their symptoms. Again, we are expecting a bus to leave Travis Air Force base at about 7 00 this morning and head to sfo and we will be here for that buss arrival. At sfo this morning, Sara Zendehnam, ktvu fox 2 news. Later today, the Santa Clara County board of supervisors will receive an update on the coronavirus in the south bay. Now the county declared a local Health Emergency this month after two people tested positive for the illness. Both of them had just flown back from wuhan, china and had been isolated in their homes recovering from the virus. Our time is now 6 04. About 500 passengers left the quarantined cruise ship diamond princess in japan today. The passengers left after their quarantine period ended. They showed no signs of the virus. About a 1,000 crew members will stay on that cruise ship. There have been 542 coronavirus cases reported on that cruise ship. In iran today, they Just Announced their first cases of coronavirus in iran. The coronavirus has killed more than 2,000 people and infected more than 75,000 around the world. This morning a 76yearold novato man who was reported missing is now in a hospital after an intense search. Robert bennetts family called the Marin County Sheriffs Office monday evening when he did not come home. His car was found near a san rafael trail yesterday and Surveillance Video showed bennett near that trail. Thats where rescue teams focused their search and a search team found bennett late last night off the trail. Later this morning, another search resumes in marin county for a couple from palo alto who had been missing since saturday. They were last seen friday. Theyd been staying in a rented home and they left behind phones, wallet vmds and their car at rental house. Mr. Irwins son is very worried. They wouldnt leave all their stuff and their car and just vanish. So, yes, i think its very strange that there wouldnt have been a mile away, two miles away. Its as if like um, its like somebody picked them up and removed them from the area. Now, investigators checked the couples electronics looking for clues as to why or how they disappeared. Today theyll focus on water areas. A medical examiner will look into how a sunnyvale man died at an oregon ski resort. At mount hood meadows resort on monday. Searchers found his body in an area known as heather canyon. This is the second death at the resort in two days. Authorities are trying to identify two people found in a burned out car. That plunged 300 off a highway in big surrender. Firefighters discovered the bodies earlier yesterday morning after butting out a brush fire started by that car. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Time is 6 06. A second firefighter now believed to have died in the city of porterville. Flames were shooting through the roof and quickly engulfed the building. Authorities said one porterville city firefighter died and another was missing. But the fresno bee is now saying another firefighter has also died. No word yet on how that fire started. A hearing is set in federal court today for the undocumented immigrant accused of killing kate steinly in San Francisco. Jose garciazarate is facing charges. The hearing today involved sealing a competency report and what to do next with the case. He was acquitted in a San FranciscoSupreme Court of the 2015 shooting death of kate steinly. Police are searching Surveillance Video of an attack. Video shows the man inside Gordos Taqueria at 6 30 p. M. On sunday. One worker handed the man his burrito. Thats when the man suddenly hit the cashier in the face with the cellphone and then started throwing things at him including his burrito. He threw the card swipe, everything he could grab here, you know, the metal container. I think he threw the tip jar also. So all in all, he was lucky he didnt have a worse injury. Police are now hoping the public can help identify that suspect. Take a look. They describe him as latino, 45 to 50 years old. 49 tall. 180 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a black 49ers tshirt. So heres your drive from the carquinez bridge to the mack arthur maze. It will take you 22 minutes. Once you get to the bay bridge toll plaza it is very busy here. The state insurance commissioner supports a plan to protect Property Owners in the areas where the fire risk is high. It would require Insurance Companies to cover all existing homes as long as they meet fire safety standards. Insurance owners would have to give homeowners upgrades. This comes after insurers have dropped customers in areas that are high risk fire zones. State lawmakers are introducing a new bill to hold Utility Companies more accountable for wild fires. The state attorney general and local district attorneys the power to prosecute utilities due to improper safety practices. Right now only the California PublicUtilities Commission has that authority. We do not have to wait until a disaster to strike to hold these Utility Companies to the standards and the letter of the law that currently exists. By giving local jurisdictions the power to enforce existing safety regulations, we seek to stop the next disaster before it start rs. S. This bill is about prevention. The new bill is expected to go too committee next month. San Francisco Mayor london breed says she has learned a hard lesson about needing to keep her personal and professional lives separate. So thats typically the non commute direction. We do see some of the slowing in the southbound direction of 680. We have a cooler pattern kicking in and theres no rain yet. 1864 is very nervous because that was the only month San Francisco is not get rain. If we dont get it friday, its probably not going to happen from that system. It wants to track towards Central California and not towards us. It is cooler. Look at all the 30s. That system looks good but all signs are that its going to track towards the coast the low is forming right there but its going to go like this and like that low clouds, plenty to go around.
