Welcome back to mornings on 2. It is wednesday, march 18th. Im mike mibach. Im gasia mikaelian. Keeping a safe distance as you should be at home or work if you are going. We are talking about the weather. Steve, its cold. It is cold. Yesterday it was colder, but its still cold this morning and theres some light rain out there. Still some snow up in the mountains. So a mostly cloudy day. I dont think the intensive we saw yesterday and i think areas to the north are better suede for that than, say, out towards livermore and south as happened yesterday. Two lows one to the north, one to the south, one impacting us. Thats the weaker of the two. But it is sending in some bands. Things are clearing for parts of areas around San Pablo Bay over towards the east bay and south. There is a little bit of rain towards san jose. So look for a mostly cloudy day with these two systems giving us offandon rain. Temperatures are cool, though, only in the 50s on the high side. Sal is here now and he will tell us probably not much. The roads are light. If you need to do your essential business, you can. If you are going to the store or whatever, right now things are doing very well. Some people have to go. The doors opened just minutes ago to people 60 and older. You see that Security Guard there . He is actually checking everyones identification making sure people are 60 before they go in. The store opens to the general public to everyone else under 60 starting at 9 00. So this is one of many stores having that senior only hour to limit exposure to coronavirus. The other essential businesses include pharmacies, restaurants for takeout and delivery only, Hardware Stores and gas stations. Now, healthcare workers are allowed to go to work so are drivers journalists, taxi, uber and lyft drivers. So those are the essential businesses in the essential workers who are still allowed to go about their business. Now, lets show you how Sonoma County is now the 7th bay area county to enact a stayathome order like this. Health officials made that decision yesterday. There are six cases of covid 19. Two new cases this weekend. Earlier this morning we spoke to one santa rosa resident on the way to the Grocery Store. Reporter we we interviewed that man, we held our microphone on a fourfootlong pole and kept distanced from him by six feet. The Grocery Stores are open. But they are being very careful about who they are letting in when and how many people they are letting in at a time. There are people who work at a Grocery Store. From 8 00 a. M. To 9 00 a. M. Only, people 60 or over can go inside and shop. This is to protect people from covid19. Napa and solano counties dont have a shelterinplace order, although napa public Health Officials are strongly considering it. Live in santa rosa, allie rasmus, ktvu fox 2 news. People are adjusting. And some late rain is moving through. Two systems, the main low though is now down in Southern California. Things are lighting up down there. The one we are dealing with is the weaker one. Thats up in northern nevada and it sends in little systems within the system that triggers some of this light rain. You can see clearing taking place to the north, some light snow into lake county. Its over the bay now. Look to be winding down and drifting south towards south San Francisco, the peninsula, san jose and trying to make it to the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Clara Valley. Theres just not a lot there. Temperatures though will stay cool. And the next system that rolls through looks like it will be probably sunday, monday. They have cut back on some of the projections. They have had a lot more of this Going Forward. Well see if they ramp it up again through the next couple of days. Highs, though, they are not warming up anytime soon. Tim cook is here to talk about the work they are doing. Pam cook is here with the story. They could have the test on the market in one to two weeks. We are joined by skype by julia, the founder and ceo of the company. Thank you so much for joining us. I know you offered one Million Dollars for any lab that could help you come up with this test. Who are you working with and how close are we to having these tests available . Hi, pam. Thanks so much for having me. We are really excited to be able to be in a position to respond to this crisis. As you said, everly well already has testing around the country for Home Delivery kits and Digital Results with doctors involved. So we thought, how can we respond . We issued a 1 million call to action on march 8th and have had dozens and dozens of labs ready with the fda emergency use authorization to help us get this test into the homes of the people that need it the most. So we have awarded almost all of that money. Well be awarding the rest of it in the next week. And we will have a solution available it telemedicine and virtual diagnosis within the week. The demand will be huge. Will you be prioritizing who will getting test first and which cities, perhaps . So this is a really important question around ethical distribution by private companies. And the way that were managing this is by using cdc protocols with our telemedicine provider to be able to screen virtually for, have you been exposed, do you have community spread, how severe are your symptoms, and frankly, if they are very severe, the immediate recommendation is to go to a healthcare facility. But for people before that point, our goal is to say, how can we keep you out of the facilities, how can we still give you what you need and be able to provide treatment virtually through a physician so that you are able to stay isolated and recover at home. And is this test going to be specifically covid19 . Because theres a lot of talk, obviously the coronavirus, which there are many strains, even the common cold comes from the coronavirus. Is this going to be specifically covid19 . Yes, this will be specifically for covid19. It is a pcr test. We have multiple labs were able to aggregate capacity to plug into our technology. So thats how we can scale this the fda and the emergency use authorization. So it is a pcr test that detects genetic components of the virus just like the other the cdc and other facilities are using. In the future it will be important to have Antibody Testing to be able to assess immunity. As we know more about the disease and see how it spreads within the population. Right now, the pcr test is the most important test to diagnose a positive or negative. These labs that you have, do you have them all over the world, the country, where are they to distribute them . So our labs right now we are focused on the u. S. We are a u. S. Based company. We are working with physicians that are in 47 states. Thats our telemedicine network. These labs are distributed around the country. This is part of how we solved the infrastructure problem around testing it is to have labs and overnight them samples similar to drivethrough clinics but on a larger scale with technology thats national. Now, as you mentioned, you started in the business with several other athome tests. You have allergy sensitivity, cholesterol screening. What is the accuracy that you have so far in your testing . So we work with about ten different accredited labs already including doing Infectious Disease testing and not dissimilar with Hazardous Materials as covid19. So our accuracy is just as good if not better by lab as what you get from your doctor. In fact, all of our labs were in existence far before everly well and our other clients are physician businesses so we use the same labs and enable home collection. So easy test for most people to do themselves . Absolutely. All right. Julia cheek with everly well, thank you so much for joining us. That hopeful news, the test is definitely in short supply, um, let us know when that is up and ready to go out. Thank you so much. Lets go back to mike and gasia. Thank you. Just looking into Public Transportation, smart train goes through marin county and Sonoma County, they did announce that they are cutting back a few weekday train trips both southbound and northbound. Im wondering, sal, you know, if we are going to see more of this from other transportation agencies here in the bay area as we move along. We have already seen it from caltrain. We have been talking about that. They reduced their baby bullet train. Bart has said it will run regular service. And you can go to the bart stations. Theres not a lot of people there. So you can maintain social distancing. If you do have to drive into San Francisco, and a lot of people are doing essential things, working in essential businesses, those commutes have been good all over the bay. Not much of a commute. We have had a little bit of rain, that may make it a little tougher. All bay area airports remain open. We have a little bit of rain going through. Its cold, though. A lot of 40s in here. They havent budged much. Livermore at 42. Oakland airport in San Francisco, 47. San jose 45. We had some decent rain good coverage in the last looks like its falling apart. More snow at Mount Hamilton. A little bit of snow showers continues up in the sierra. Another two to four inches in the next two days are in the forecast here. Pattern remains unsettled, but the rainfall rates are coming down unless you get a thunderstorm like livermore did yesterday. Mainly mostly cloudy, cool, light rain, two systems. The weaker one is impacting us up in nevada. That will drift towards the Sierra Nevada over the next few hours. But it looks like the rainfall will be light unless you get a cell that develops. But we are looking for light rain unless youre in Southern California, arizona, where its going to be big time. 60s where we should be on the highs, well be in the 50s again. Looks like most of the week will be there until the weekend when well see warmer temperatures on saturday, cloudy in advance of the next system sunday. 8 20.
