The money will be distributed as grants through local community organizations. The city of san jose is extending protections against evictions during the coronavirus emergency. The city Council Voted to extend the temporary ban on evictions until may 31. And to move forward with a plan to freeze rents. The previous moratorium on evictions was due to expire this month. The city Council Plans to vote on a proposed rent freeze next week and the Contra Costa County board of supervisors is considering a countywide moratorium on most evictions and rent increases for residential and business rentals. Santa clara county is reporting 71 new cases of coronavirus bringing the total to 1793. The county has also one more death bringing the total number of fatalities to 65. Santa clara county Health Officer sara cody says the daily increase in the number of cases and deaths is proof that the county is still not out of the woods. Our collective action has slow the spread, but we have to keep at it, it is not the time to let up. If we let up, what we will see is a resurgence in cases.
