Reporter of course, it is fathers day weekend, a lot of people want to make plans and celebrate, but even though these rules are loosening a bit, it is important to stay safe, parallel Health Orders went into effect friday for both Alameda County and the city of berkeley, which has its own health department, the new Health Orders allow the reopening of outdoor museums, outdoor restaurant dining, limited religious services, indoor and outdoor shopping and Outdoor Fitness classes, all with modifications. Alameda county says the number of coronavirus hospitalizations has stabilized and they are testing more people every day. The city of berkeley says coronavirus is still a threat to everyone in the community, regardless of age. We spoke to a Uc Berkeley Public Health expert to tell talked about the steps he is taking one celebrate fathers day and suggests others do the same. We are bringing our own food, bringing our own plates, and we are bringing own utensils and glasses. So, it is not going to be like other fathers days, but the important thing is we will be together. Thousands of people gathered at lake merritt and in oakland last night for a Juneteenth Celebration, a large crowd, mostly young people attended the street party. Police say a handful of people did set off fireworks, sky fox flew over the scene of this Juneteenth Celebration earlier in the evening, you can see the big turnout near the amber theater, police say the celebration did remain peaceful with the big crowds enjoying what was described as a party atmosphere. Earlier, thousands of people gathered at the port of oakland for one of the bay areas largest Juneteenth Celebrations, the longshoremans union shut down the busy port in protest against systemic racism in the United States, yesterdays demonstration in oakland was part of a coordinated effort, which resulted in the shutdown of 29 ports along the west coast. This is an historic occasion, this action on the part of the is the first time in American History that an International Union has commemorated the emancipation of africanamerican people in the United States of america. The protesters made their way from the port to the streets of downtown oakland to city hall, they then gathered at the plaza for another rally marking juneteenth. I think that celebrating juneteenth nationally will help heal the wounds of slavery, it will educate people. So, by learning about slavery, by learning about the effects of slavery and learning about the lingering mistreatment of this large group of people in the United States, i think people will begin to understand.
