A new weekly drive up food service, or food bank opened this morning in fremont to help those in need. This event is cosponsored by the Alameda County Community Food bank, tricity volunteers, and wells fargo. 600 boxes of food are being given away at the wells fargo offices on walnut avenue near liberty street. People can drive up, stay in their cars, and volunteers will put groceries directly in the cars. The boxes have fresh produce, canned, and packaged food. Fresh fruit, we have apples and oranges. We have vegetables that are very important. This community has been shaken by covid19. We are seeing numbers, where we used to see 250 People Per Day, we are seeing 500 to 600 People Per Day needing food. They say they are turning Bank Locations into mobile Food Distribution centers in 20 cities across the country. The location of walnut avenue and fremont will be open every friday through august 28. The San Francisco Fire Department chief says after months of avoiding the coronavirus amongst the ranks, they are seeing an uptick in cases. The Fire Department has 15 confirmed cases. Most of them are quarantined and did return to work. A couple of those infected are fighting severe symptoms of the virus. This week we had two members admitted to hospitals due to their symptoms. We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers. We hope that the public will as well. 1195 masks were donated to firefighters and the department of public health. Nurses also benefited. These are minor changes in the bay area forecast. Of course we are keeping an eye on the storm developing. This is a Tropical Storm and hurricane. These are the lines representing the forecast track. We have hurricane isaias with wind at 80 Miles Per Hour going to the northwest at 15 Miles Per Hour. This track has been shifting a bit over the last day or so. We are bringing it closer to the east coast of florida. You can see this coming up with possibly a category one hurricane status. It will move to the north. It could impact the carolinas as we go into early next week. This is a category one storm. Back in the bay, we have low clouds and fog for portions of the coastline. North of the golden gate bridge, we have sunshine. It is close to that beach. The current numbers . We have 91 degrees in fairfield. San francisco is 63. Happened beas in the 50s. Have a bit of a cooldown that will continue early next week. Coronavirus survivors face a new challenge after leaving the hospital. I am Ashley Strohmeyer with a look at recoveries, straight ahead. Researchers say there are many unknowns about the coronavirus people die from the virus. Others are a symptomatic, and does that do survive have a Recovery Process that is unique to every individual survivor. Is fy is far from over. After spending 13 weeks in a hospital bed, he is struggling to regain his strength with physical therapy. None of it has been easy. You just got to do. Reporter he is one of the many covid19 survivors navigating a new challenge, recovery. Doesnt were seriously ill from the virus may face a number of lingering symptoms from muscle weakness, shortness of breath, to heart damage. Months into the pandemic, doctors are still trying to understand why some people with the virus develop no symptoms, while others end up on a ventilator fighting for their lives. This is a multiorgan disease. They will have strokes and going to heart failure. They have heart attacks. To have blood lots. Reporter it is not just physical problems. Some survivors say they find themselves anxious, can use, or unable to concentrate. It is common for them to have posttraumatic stress disorder after leaving the hospital. The isolating nature of the virus can make the psychological trauma even worse. One survivor that received a double Lung Transplant says recovery has taken both a physical and mental toll. The entire time i was on the vent, i had a lot of nightmares. It is hard to distinguish reality versus the nightmares. Reporter it is too early to know the longterm effects of the virus. This came as california Health Officials reported the states first coronavirus death of a child. Health officials a teenager died at valley Childrens Hospital in the central valley. That havent earlier this week. They are not revealing the teenagers name, gender, or ethnicity, due to privacy laws. State Officials Say the teenager had other Health Conditions as well. The interim Health Director became emotional discussing the impact. This is a huge, for everyone involved, including the hospital workers that are still coping on this case. I am speechless, when it comes to anything i could say to the family. It is a heartbreaking case. It brings home the reality that this is not bearing even the youngest members of our community
