State inspectors have been to the happy, happy home daycare on fleetwood drive eight times in the past three years. The records show that business has been cited six times, including one citation. Last month for a failure to check on infants every 15 minutes when they sleep. The National DrowningPrevention Alliance says pools will always have risks. Theres not one single solution thats going to complete eliminate the risk. We talk about a multi stage intervention strategy. Now, San Jose Police and state regulators are still investigating the drownings of the children. They wont be comment on the case until their investigations are over. That may take months as millions of children could soon lose their places at Daycare Centers across the country. Thats because federal funding provided during the pandemic has expired. Now the money was used to keep the doors open at centers so parents could keep working. But without that extra money, an estimated 200,000 child care providers could go out of business without a daycare. Some of those parents might have to leave their jobs. There are so many people that they dont have a grandma or an aunt or a cousin or anybody that can, you know, be a consistent person to watch their child every day. Well, barts downtown san jose expansion is facing another very expensive delay. Yeah, transit Officials Say they need another ten years and. 3 million. Ktvu south bay reporter Lamonica Peters has details. Vta general manager and ceo Carolyn Ganot says barts phase two expansion from berryessa to santa clara is scheduled for completion by 2036, ten years later than expected. And the entire project is a 16 mile extension from fremont to santa clara with six stations and a tunnel through downtown san jose. Although the project will cost an additional 2. 9 billion, ganot says that money has already been accounted for despite this increase, the new figure remains within our funding plan due to strong support by existing local supported tax measures and state and federal sources. Ganot says project adjustments, inflation and Rising Interest Rates are major factors in the delay. San jose mayor matt marin also weighed in on the delay, saying bart to Silicon Valley is happening and vta and its contractors will have to live within their means to get it done. We are not going back to the voters on this one. This area has enough money to pay for improve our lives, right . So now they should make a way to make it happen even with vtas announcement of a delay in added cost, some people we spoke to in santa clara are still looking ahead to the benefits of having a bart station nearby. I know a lot of students do get internships like in the bay area especially, and i know its like really expensive for transportation and just having a car on campus. So i think bart would be like beneficial for everyone when they need to spend it so we can get cars off the road and they know they think electric cars are going to do it all. But we dont have the highway and the infrastructure for vta also says that they have 2. 8 billion in contingent funds and they dont believe theyll have to ask the public to pitch in any more money.
