Spshakeup inuleadership at that prison. Yeah. Jacob. Indeed, even as we see fbi agents coming and going throughout the prison, now, they are possibly building yet another criminal case in the wake of thatc massive sex abuse scandal involvinguguards and female inmates, a major shakeup at the all womens federal prison in dublin on monday as fbi agents swarmed the facility, ktvu has learned. The wardenuand associate warden and a captain leadership is now in place. The restructuring comes as about 20 fbi agents raided the facility. A bureau spokeswoman confirmed those agents were at the prison conducting, quote, Court Authorized Law Enforcement Activity but declined to elaborate. The fbi agents were at the prison for most of the day. At one point, they were seen removing at least one box of potential evidence and placing it inc a minivan. The prison has been at the center of a long running sex abuse scandal thats been documented extensively by ktvu. Eight prison workers have been charged by federal prosecutors with including former warden rayy,t garcia, who was sentenced last year to more than five years in federal prison for abusing three female inmates. Just last week, a dozen more women filed sexual abuse and retaliation lawsuits against guards at the prison, bringing the total number of lawsuits to 63. The litigation comes as the dublin prison is now being garcias departure. A very little faith about bop ability to reform this deeply troubled institution. Kara jensen is an attorney representing a number of victims. She says the problems here are proof there needs to be change from the outside, she says some of the administrators dismissed monday had pledged to reform theuprison and they all testified about how this is a but this looks the same to me and i think to many of our clients. A federal judge a special master over the prison to administer reforms. Signs that bop is able tong for address this problem. I dont know that this is very comforting to the court. Now, to be clear, none of the three administrators at the prison federal court with any crimes. This investigation is ongoing. Live in dublin. Henry lee ktvu, fox two news. All right. We will wait see if a special master is, in fact, put in charge of that prison. Henry. Thank you. Well, the chp isuasking for help as they investigate a deadly hit and run. One year ago today, a levee broke in pajaro in monterey county, and was underwater. Now, a year later, many people in that community are continuing to struggle. Ktvu san rubin is joining us now live from pajaro, and that city and its residents are trying to rebuild. And we know that some state funding is finally now coming their way. n yeah. And there are a bunch of meetings this week that are going to help people navigate that process. Residents say its about time in pajaro. Even after a year, devastation from the levee break remains fresh. There is still damage and there is still frustration. Sad, i feel like, y dont do nothing for us. Like, are we livingc in in the middle of nowhere . This was the mexico meat market when the floodwaters hit. The only help theyve received since then has come from familyu merchandise or to fix the building. Repairs to the levee itself are almost complete. Meanwhile, the state of california has promised d20 million to the small town, ten to businesses and residents, another ten to community hasnt come what they call it. But thatsuabout to change. Monterey county says it took a few months to get the money and to form a plan, but now theyll begin disbursement of those state funds. So the process has started, essentially, and its of months. Were going to be there as long as it takes. And weve opened were opening the Community Resource centers in the pajaro park. Residents sayc they need the help. Some people stilluhave mold in their homes. Some have no homes at all. As a matter of fact, theres still two families that de la cn stepping up and neighbors have been helping each other. Were more united as businesses and residents. In fact, pajaro is planning a celebration of sorts one Year Anniversary of the levee break and their resilience. This disaster has brought the realization that the only way that this community will progress is by coming together. And while the levee repairs are set to bec completed in the next few weeks, a bigger levee replacement project is still in the planning phases. Alex. Yeah, a long way for that community to go, but it is good to hear that state money is now headed their way, and ruben live in pajaro. And thank you. Well, more than 20 years after being convicted of murdering his wife and unborn son, Scott Peterson may get a new trial earlier this year, we told you the l. A. Innocence be taking up petersons case, arguing peterson state and federal Constitutional Rights were violated during his 2004 trial. A status hearing is going to be held tomorrow in san mateo county. Scott peterson will appear in courtuvia zoom. Okay, so for more on what tomorrow could bring, lets bring in our legal analyst, michael cardoza. Michael,c alwas a pleasure to see you. So hearing. So what do we expect to well, basically, at the statusuhearing, the judge is going to ask, have you run into anyc problems with discovery . Te Innocence Project is going. Thee looking for dna evidence and the judge wants to know how swiftly down this road to possibly discovering new exculpatory and, michael, we know that the la Innocence Project, among a number of items theyre seeking, theyre asking that testing be done on a lot of, ins much talked about blood stained mattress that was found inside a burned out van not far away from the peterson home in modesto. Does does a judge in order for a testing to be done on pieces of no, the judge just asked to make sure that they and are affe chance of doing the dna testing. Im a little skeptical that after 20 years, will there be enough dna touactually test, but Innocence Project. They have a lotuof time. Theyre working on this case and they will vetuall of the evidence in the case cang new. And thats the hope in this. And thats what the judge wants to make sure of. With you . Do i expect any problems to happen while this is going on . Now remember, hes Scott Peterson first degree murder for laci, a Second Degree murder for the baby. Connor. And into a life without possibility of parole. Then scott made a motion for a new trial. Because of the way the jurors acted out. And we all remember act in this particular trial. That motion was denied. So this is the last ditch effort for scott. If thats exculpatory, then they will ask for a new trial. The judge wantc to make sure that they get all of the chance or chance to look at and vet all of that evidence and then come to whatever conclusion they come to. Michael, we dont have a whole lot of time here left, but how big of a deal is it that the la Innocence Project is now getting behind Scott Petersons case . Well, its a big deal in the sense of these people have a vey intelligent attorneys. Theyuhave theutime to really dig into it. They must have seen something that tweaked their innocence or their interest. Rather, they dont take all cases that come to them. Now, i dont know what spthey looked at that they saidl yes, we are willing to spend our time, our money to go into and vet this evidenceuto investigat it fully. So they saw something that maybe somebody else didnt see. So it is a big deal in that sense. All right. Well wait and see what what comes of tomorrows status hearing. We appreciate your perspective. That is our legal analyst, michael cardoza. Sp thank you. Sam. Take care. All right. Muslims all around the world welcoming the arrival of ramadan. Coming up here on the for today, how this years celebration comes with a mix of joy and concern as the war rages on in gaza. Plus, Vice PresidentKamala Harris back here in the bay area. Tonight, well tell you about the reasons behind her visit coming up aulittle bit later. Alexander doors at this hour, an increase in clouds as another round of rain works towards the bay area. Ill have a look at what you can ect of ramadan, but there is very little to celebrate this year, with a rising death toll from israels war on hamas. Cease fire talks now at a standstill, and a growing humanitarian crisis, the five month long war has killed over 30,000 palestinian inns. Normally during ramadan, families would break the daily sunrise to sunset, fast with holiday feasts. But right now, food is in such short supply that many in gaza are only eating one meal a day. Yeah, the situation there in the middle east creating uncertainty and anxiety. So with zahra billoo, executivew director of the council on American Islamic relations for the San Francisco bay area, also known as care. Sara, thank you so much for being here. So ramadan begins, as alex was just mentioning, no news of concernse tensions possibly spreading . Thank you so muchufor having me. Its such a heartbreakingt time. I the closest comparison i have is actually none in my prayer and worship and fasting. And muslims across the world began that fast. Today its our first day of fasting. While watching a genocide unfold. Told live on our mobile phones, we often, as we fast, we reflect on what it means to go without food. But that takes on a different meaning this year, knowing that the beenc starvingy months now, that they may not make it through theunight, spknowing who from their familis will be killed by the Israeli Occupation forces and that our government continues to use our tax dollars to fund thist violence. There were heartbreaking images emerging from gaza last night as the muslims there began theirufirst night prayers for ramadan under the shadow of the rubble ofuthe mosques that israel has bombed. Israel has left no place untouched. Schools, hospitals, homes and mosques. But we learn from the people of palestine to be resilient and to be faithful. And so they are our heroes this ramadan, when we feel hungry, w will know that they are facing hardship we could never imagine. And as we think about our Charitable Giving in ramadan, many of us will be thinking about how to offset the our us g carnage in palestine. You know, President Biden ino this country and to the world, acknowledged that the holy month this year comes at a moment of intense pain. And he said the suffering of the Palestinian People will be front of mind for many. How do you thinkumuslims in gaza now are viewing those words . And that message from the us president ,uwho does seem to be shifting his position on this conflict somewhat and calling more forcefully for israel to prevent civilian deaths in gaza. President bidens words, Vice President harriss words and the words ofc all of the elected officials who have continued to greenlight israels genocide in gaza by funding it, sending more money and more weapons more quickly over the last several months, ring hollow and hypocritical for muslims in gaza, but also muslims across the United States. Words without action alone have cost us the lives of 30,000 palestinians. The starvation of hundreds of thousands of men, women and children. And so he can frankly keep his ramadan greetings. He can keep his ramadan wishes and let this be advanced. Notice that even eath greetings as ramadan ends and muslims move to celebrate the end of fasting will not resonate with american muslims or muslims in gaza. So long as the president and his administration dont move from words to action. Oh, ramadan mubarak, here are more weapons for israel. Ramadan mubarak here is food aid that we are going to drop from the air. The United States is complicit in the, buto participated in the murder of palestinians last week under the food aid that the United States attempted to drop, despite the fact that all experts say that that is the worst way to deliver spfood. And so ramadan, greetins from people complicit in genocide ring hollow and hypocritical in gaza. And here in the us. All right. We appreciate your perspective here as ramadan begins. Thank you for your time. Zahra billoo from care here in the San Francisco bay for comink you. Okay. As we spent a good portion of that interview talking about the situation in the middle east, we want to bring ituback a little closeruto home now and talk about weather here in the bay area. And really a nice day out there. Although the morning kind of started out a little tricky for me at least there were some clouds. I wasnt sure if it was going to rain or what was going to happen. Lets bring in rosemary for more on the forecast for the rest of your day and the rest of the week. Yeah, the timing of the rain this weekend. Interesting, right . It cameuin last night for most after sunset. So many folks probably didnt even realize it was wake up this morning and the pavement is wet and maybe a few sprinkles left falling from the sky, and then it cleared out and were left with this partly cloudy skies across the bay area this afternoon. But wait, more is on the way. Another wave of rain expected. Very similar on the timing is expected to arrive after sunset for most, which is about 713 later today. 56 degrees right now in concord ann jose. So a cool one out there. But we have the sunshine, and the. Heres Storm Tracker two now, and you can see the increase in clouds that has come in in the last few hours. And the rain is still to sprinkles perhaps right now over areas of lake county working closer to sonoma county. As we go toward the sierra, the advisory for travel here will afternoon and additional 4 to 10in of snow expected above 5000ft, and the wind gusts could reach 35 to 45mph at it really h to see out. There may have whiteout conditions over parts of the sierra, and thats why, of course, the advisory afterno. The future cast model on the on when the rain is expected to arrive. Heres again a look at 7 00 and its moving into the north bay a lake county seeing it. But for the central and south bay takes into the evening hours kind of moves through during the overnight. And then tomorrow morning we wake showers. Theres a look at your lunch hour, 1 00. Anduthen by tomorrow at this time were dry. And behind this a big warm up coming our way with dry weather expected all the way. And in and through the last weekend of winter, ill have a better look at what we can expect moving forward.
