Monday, there will be a smooth ride for motorists. We are replacing the deteriorated pavement with concrete, which lasts for a long time. There are multiple detours, but drivers will basically be forced to either take 580 to 880 or use 84 to go around. City streets will likely be congested, too, with four on ramps involved in the closure. Today is the first friday of the month of ramadan, and security is tight in the holy city of jerusalem. Tens of thousands of worshipers are expected to visit the alaska mosque compound during the holy month. The heightened security measures come amid the israelhamas war. Meanwhile, displaced palestinians are seen praying today at a makeshift camp in southern gaza. Now, this comes as hamas releases new details of a new cease fire proposal. It includes the release of hostages being held in gaza for palestinian prisoners held in israel. As Madeline Rivera reports from capitol hill. It comes amid the fallout over suggestions made by u. S. Lawmaker that israel should hold new elections. As the fighting grinds on in the gaza strip, israels war cabinet is meeting to consider a new ceasefire proposal from hamas. Its a two step plan. In the first phase, hamas would release israeli women, children, the elderly and those with Health Issues in exchange for up to 1000 palestinian prisoners. After that, both sides would agree on a date for israels withdrawal from gaza, followed by the release of the remaining hostages. Its not yet clear how israel would respond, but its unlikely theyd order a full stop to their offensive. We are willing to pay a heavy price to bring back the hostages, but we one thing we will not compromise in, thats our demand not to stop the war until hamas is eradicated. The new proposal was announced just one day after Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer suggested israel hold new elections, a direct shot at Prime Minister benjamin netanyahu. Those comments prompting significant criticism from israeli officials. Even benny gantz, netanyahus political rival, called schumers suggestion, quote, incorrect and unacceptable. The Biden Administration now distancing itself from schumers remarks, saying he was speaking for himself, not the white house. Im sure they fully understand that he speaks for himself. Hes obviously someone were in close contact with, but its not a statement from the executive branch. Meanwhile, the us released the final draft of a Un Resolution aimed at stopping the fighting in gaza, but its unclear when it will come up for a vote in the Security Council in washington. Theyll also pay restitution. However, the amount is still being determined. One case was dropped for a lack of evidence, but the case of retired pleasanton firefighter masud barakzai is still going forward. He told us that his case is separate from the others. Its unfortunate that an innocent person has to be dragged through this type of thing for something. They had nothing to do with, so i guess im just im disappointed. Still, im disappointed in the District Attorney. Im disappointed in the prosecutors. I really am absolutely disappointed that they would continue to push something onto somebody that, again, has nothing to do with it. Barakzai says he was on his way to catch a flight when he was caught up in the gaza protest and wrongfully detained. He wants prosecutors to drop misdemeanor charges of unlawful Public Assembly and failure to disperse. California statewide antihate hotline is coming up on its first anniversary. The multilingual hotline and website were launched last year in direct response to the rise in reported hate crimes across the state. The hotline offers assistance in 15 different languages on the phone and in over 200 different languages online. Special prosecutor nathan wade, before the case can go to trial. Trumps codefendants have alleged that the relationship was a disqualifying conflict of interest, and it seemed to matter to the judge that wade had this relationship and the timing of it and the credibility in the courtroom. President trump has been hammering willis on the campaign trail. Funny, so corrupt. Fani willis hired her lover, nathan wade, so they could fraudulently make money together. Lets make money, darling. The news in georgia follows major legal developments in trump world. On thursday, a florida judge rejected one of two bids by the former president to get his classified documents criminal case thrown out and new york prosecutors suggested a 30 day delay in the 2016 Stormy Daniels hush money trial that was supposed to start march 25th. Trumps lawyers had been pushing for a 90 day postponement. Thousands of sequoias in californias National Parks were either burned or threatened by wildfire in 2020, and 21 scores were planted in england and scotland. 170 years ago, certainly not as old as californias sequoias, but they seem to be doing well.
