Labour union links insecurity in Kaduna, Niger, Kogi to workers’ sacking The Punch Published 1 May 2021 THE Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical, and Recreational Services Employees has linked the insecurity in Kaduna, Niger, and Kogi States to the sacking of about 30,000 workers by the state government. General-Secretary of the union, Sikiru Waheed, claimed the Governor El -Rufai administration has sacked 30, 000 workers since it came into power in 2015. The state had last month disengaged about 5,000 local government workers, hinging the decision on its dwindling finances and high wage bill. Following the development, the Nigeria Labour Congress declared a five-day withdrawal of services in the state to protest the sacking.
