Date Time Lancaster University marks death of HRH Prince Philip Following the death of HRH Prince Philip, the University extends its sincere condolences to the Royal Family. To mark the death of HRH Prince Philip, the Union Jack flag will fly at half-mast at the University’s Bailrigg campus until after Prince Philip’s funeral. Lancaster University holds long-standing relationships with Prince Philip and other members of the Royal Family. HRH Prince Philip was a patron of the Industrial Society in 1952. The Industrial Society is now known as the Work Foundation and is based at Lancaster University. HRH Queen Elizabeth II is the visitor for Lancaster University, and in 1969, toured Lancaster University’s then newly-opened Bailrigg campus.
