Gary Mehler along with Deputy Hunter Disney, Deputy Dustin Saylor and Deputy Brent France were called out to a business parking lot off Highway 312 where two men were reportedly passed out in a vehicle. Deputies arrived to find 25-year-old Kylen Lovett of Barbourville and 37-year-old Christopher George of McKee apparently passed out in a car. Officers had to make several attempts to wake the men up. During the investigation deputies found a loaded syringe determined to contain fentanyl. Lovett had an uncapped hypodermic needle in a back pocket. George had a United States Marshal badge attached to his belt and a 9MM handgun. George was found to be a convicted felon and had a Laurel County warrant for drug trafficking. Later, while being processed at the jail, officers found meth on him. Both were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
