Advocates for Mountain Viewâs vehicle dwellers announced Monday (July 12) legal action against the city of Mountain View over its oversized vehicle ordinance that prevents extended parking on city streets. The Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, the ACLU Foundation of Northern California and disability rights advocates with King & Spalding LLC are joining forces to challenge the law, which is now being enforced with the installation of street signage. A press conference is scheduled Wednesday. The advocates said they want the RV âbanâ replaced with âsafe, long-term solutions that allow them to maintain their dignity and their home.â The Mountain View City Council established the law, which voters affirmed last year under Measure C, for public health and traffic safety reasons. The law targets vehicles more than 7 feet wide, 7 feet high and 22 feet long parking on streets 40 feet wide or narrower.
