The deal begins with the 2022-23 campaign and keeps Point under contract through the 2029-30 season. The 25-year-old Point has been a key cog on Tampa Bay's back-to-back StanleyCup championship teams. He has 139 goals and 171 assists (310 points) in 351 games over five seasons with the Lightning. "I'm very excited to stay in Tampa for another nine years," Point said in a news release. "I want to thank the entire Lightning organization for this and say thanks to our fans. Since being drafted by Tampa, I've always felt like Tampa has been home and the fans have played a huge role in making my time in Tampa so wonderful."
