CANTON — Josh Brewer stood inside The Auricle on a recent morning, the music club vacant and quiet. A stage and upgraded sound system were idle. So was the bar, where customers haven't sat and ordered beer or watched a rock show since May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Brewer admitted if it hadn't been for a federal 30-year loan he received in November through the Small Business Administration, the live-music venue would have been forced to close. "It's no joke," he said. "I had $500 in my account for The Auricle." A smile flashed across Brewer's face as he talked about reopening The Auricle on Friday with a free 8:30 p.m. outdoor performance by the Pinkertones, a Weezer tribute band, as part of First Friday events in downtown Canton.
