Live N.J. power outage tracker: Thousands out as snowstorm, strong winds hammer state Updated Dec 16, 2020; Thousands of homes and businesses across New Jersey are without power as strong winds and heavy snow whip across the state on Wednesday during the year’s first major storm. As of 9:30 p.m., more than 13,000 customers from the state’s three major utilities are in the dark, according to online outage trackers from PSE&G, Jersey Central Power & Light and Atlantic City Electric. Forecasters have said power outages are a concern during the storm as wind gusts could reach 40 mph inland and 60 mph along the Jersey Shore. Heavy wet snow could also collect on power lines and pull them down, particularly in areas north and west of Interstate 95.
