Kathy Powers The presentation will be led by UNM Associate Professor Kathy Powers and public health expert and alumna Cora Neumann. Neumann and Powers will share their extensive international work in institution building, restorative justice, economic development and public health during the pandemic. They will explore the successes and failures of international institutions and strategies in order to meet the legal, economic and health challenges facing developing nations. Cora Neumann From their different perspectives, Neumann and Powers believe that western-designed international organizations and programs are often inappropriate in culturally and economically different settings, and meaningful change is often leveraged in unique, surprising ways. They will also turn the lens back on America to explore how lessons gained from Asia and Africa may help meet critical economic, political and health challenges.
