RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - MAY 09: A sea turtle swims in the coast of the Guanabara Bay during a coronavirus quarentine, on May 09, 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Nearly four year after Rio hosted the first Olympic games in South America, some Olympic legacy plans, including ridding Rio's bay of pollution have failed to materialize. Animals are seen more frequently in the city during the coronavirus pandemic.According to the Brazilian Health Ministry, Brazil has 155.939 positive cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and a total of 10.627 deaths.

What began as an environmental tragedy ended in a small hope. In a bold effort, conservation scientists from the University of Central Florida extracted 70 eggs from the body of a dead loggerhead turtle after it met with an unfortunate accident on a Brevard County beach.
