Logistics real estate platform ESR buys data centre asset in Japan Photo: ESR April 9, 2021 Hong Kong-based logistics real estate platform ESR Cayman Limited on Thursday announced that it has acquired an asset in Japan’s Osaka to develop a data centre campus with a gross asset value of over $2 billion. The asset comprises an existing data centre and excess land, totalling a development potential of up to 78MW IT load, ESR said in a statement. ESR will renovate the existing data centre into an additional 39MW IT load upon expiry of the current lease. It plans to utilise the excess land to build two additional buildings, work on one of which will begin later this year and completed by 2023.
