Man suing Ross for $1M claims he fell off slippery stool


HOUSTON — Ross Stores and one of its managers is facing a negligence claim after a customer suffered injuries at its store in Humble. 
Nahid Khatib filed a complaint May 27 in Harris County District Court against Ross Stores Inc., and Jeff Jenkins alleging negligence. 
Khatib claims while shopping at the Ross store in Humble on Oct. 21, 2019, he fell off a slippery stool and suffered "severe" injuries. He alleges that he suffered physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment as well as suffered lost wages as a result of his fall. 
Khatib alleges the negligence of Ross and its then store manager, Jenkins, for failing to ensure its premises was safe and posed no "unreasonable risk of harm." He further alleges the defendants failed to warn of the hazard, failed to inspect and maintain the premises and failed to implement safety procedures and regulations.
