Irony layers piled on like iridium in the K-Pg boundary this past TV season — remember when TV had seasons? Old fart — as relatively few watched "Saturday Night Live" live. 
For years that was partly of necessity, as the show broadcast live only to Eastern and Central zones, while the left side of the country got a taped version. But since 2017, "SNL" goes on across the contiguous U.S. at the same time. Alaska picks it up live, though that becomes 7:30 p.m. local; in Honolulu, they delay it an hour, to push the show back to 7:30. But for much of the U.S., it's a late-night show, so who's to blame for appreciating "SNL" post-broadcast over Hulu, or www.nbc.com?
