In 1957/1958, the Emery's steam engine was replaced with two diesel engines and the forward wheelhouse removed. Although these modifications substantially changed the Emery's profile, the bow of the Emery in this photo, is the same bow, painted green (just as in Alan Mann's memories), that battled the Central Bridge during the Sydenham River Crisis of November 1944.
