Media release: ‘u3a Day’ celebrates blended learning, fun and social connections TO the delight of its 12,000 members across Scotland, 2 June 2021 marks the first-ever ‘u3a Day’. It celebrates the achievements of older, mainly non-working adults, now learning a new skill or taking up a hobby as part of a community u3a. Since the pandemic, going online to enjoy various groups and activities has become the new norm. Many volunteers, who run the country’s network of 54 self-help learning co-operatives, switched to video conferencing to stay connected. This hybrid model is set to offer a future choice of web-based or face-to-face meetings once restrictions lift. Indeed, Scotland is now first in the UK to offer nationwide u3a sessions online.
