Hundreds of Montgomery County EMS workers and volunteers are expected to receive their first doses of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine this week.
The special clinic for first responders started Monday morning with Narbeth Ambulance Lieutenant Joe Yochim and Second Alarmer's Rescue Squad Battalion Chief Anthony McGrail getting the first two doses.
Montgomery County Department of Public Safety spokesman Todd Stieritz said Tuesday the about 400 first responders are expected to be vaccinated by Wednesday.
In a Facebook post Monday, the Second Alarmer's thanked the county for coordinating the vaccination effort and urged counties across the state to follow suit.
"We recognize that not all EMS providers across the state have been this fortunate and urge the Department of Health and other EMS regions to address this concern without further delay," the Facebook posts states.
