More N.J. schools switching to all-remote classes as COVID-19 cases rise, winter break nears, Murphy says Updated Dec 21, 2020; As schools approach the winter break, most districts in New Jersey have transitioned to some form of remote learning, with fewer than 100 buildings fully open to in-person learning, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday. Murphy said the number of school districts providing all-remote learning has increased to 320 while another 362 districts have a mix of in-person and remote learning as of Monday. Eighty-two schools remain open for all in-person instruction, while another 47 have some mix of all-remote, in-person or hybrid learning. The move to all-remote has coincided with the winter break, Murphy said during his latest coronavirus briefing in Trenton.
