Former republican Vice President Dick Cheney announced that he will not vote for Gop Nominee Donald trump, but instead will back the democratic candidate, Kamala Harris. His statement released On Friday slammed trump, calling him a tlt to our republic and pointed to his repeated 2020 election lies. Cheney wrote this. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again. Trump, as you might expect, responded in a Social Media post, calling cheney an irrelevant Rhino Or Republican in name only. Vice president harris, meanwhile, says she was honored by the endorsement. Im actually honored to have their endorsement, and i think that what they both as leaders who are well respected are making an important statement, that its okay and if not important to put Country Above party. Harris there speaking at a local stop in pittsburgh where shes been camping out during debate prep. Meanwhile former president george w. Bush has no plans to endorse anyone in the upcoming election. When asked by Nbc News over the weekend whether he or his wife laura will endorse a republican or how they will vote, he said no. President bush retired from president ial politics six years ago. The fact that hes not endorsing his Partys Nominee is notable. In 2008, late Senator Incain and earlier his father said they would steer clear of the white House Race and would refrain from commenting on Donald Trump. And in 2021 bush said he wrote in former Secretary Of State condoleezza rice. Thats who he voted for for president in 2020. So there is growing concern this morning among several of Donald Trumps allies that Hell Blow this debate and ruin his best chance to regain ground against Vice President harris. Thats according to new reporting in politico, reporting that prominent gp officials and some of trumps own advisers have now been urging the republican president ial nominee for weeks to keep the focus on critiquing harrisS Policy record. But trump has inextend continued to signal that hes not interested in backing down from delivering personal attacks. A Trump Campaign Official who spoke to politico said the expresident has been working with senior staff and allies to determine how to best portray a contrast with harris during tomorrow Nights Debate held in philadelphia. But the official suggested that preparations have been minimal, saying trump is, quote, simply reviewing Policy Specifics that he believes voters will most care about in order to contrast his time in office to Kamala Harriss four years as copilot, meaning in the biden administration. At the same time, former new Jersey Governor Chris christie is offering his advice to Kamala Harris. A The New York Times Siena College poll released yesterday shows 48 are for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris one point behind at 47 . Those are within, of course, the margin of error. Another poll finds the race in three Battle Ground states extremely tight. The latest Cbs News Yougov Poll shows harris is up one point on trump, 5049. Meanwhile in pennsylvania, the two are deadlocked at 50 . And in wisconsin, the poll finds harris up two, 51 to 49 . Again, all of these results are within the margin of error. Its basically been a Marginoferror Race since harris stepped in. Theres a trend Long Island thats supported her for several weeks. They seem to have cooled just a touch, but largely were in a dead heat. So talk to us about the stakes of Tomorrow Night. Yeah, so theyre going into this debate in a dead heat like you mentioned, especially in these Battleground States which you know are going to determine the election, a state like pennsylvania where theyre still tied and have been. So i think both camps are trying to move the needle during the debate. Theyre hopeful that undecided voters, people who havent been participating in polls, independents, moderates on both sides of the aisle will be tuned in and sees or hears something that resonates with them that decides ahead of november who theyre voting for or somebody who saw an endorsement like Dick Cheney and then sees the debate and Donald Trump says something that maybe they find offensive and then they say, okay, you know what . Im officially in Vice President harriss camp. I think especially Vice President harriss camp is trying to build on the momentum that has still lingered behind her that will push her over the edge with some undecided voters. Meanwhile Donald Trumps camp is trying to get him to focus on Policy Or Talk saving Child Care costs which he wasnt able to answer a question on last week that maybe could resonate with the voter on tuesdays debate stage. One thing that struck me in The Times siena poll, 28 of them said they felt they needed to know more about harris while only 9 said they needed to know more about trump. Trump has been in our lives for a long time. For her, it seems like theres a percentage of americans who want to learn more about her as a person, but more importantly about her policy. Is Tomorrow Night a chance to explain it . Thats right. I think that i want her to focus on policy Tomorrow Night as one way to challenge former president Donald Trump, make him talk about policy, but make him answer the questions the way The American voters feel like they dont know about her yet. What is she actually going to do to lower costs of groceries and gas for my family. These issues theyve been concerned about throughout the biden administration and are worried she would just be a continuation. But a number like that, that there are still less than 30 of voters who feel like they dont know enough about her, we used to be an election that had the two most wellknown men running for president , President Trump and president biden. Maybe they only heard about the negatives of her working on the border or the negatives when they would, you know, watch tv and hear what republicans had to say when they would criticize her. Now they actually want to hear, what are you going to do for me and my family, and i think the Vice President s team is really focused on her having these specific Policy Points that she can point to and say heres exactly what my plan is, its slightly different from what president Bidens Plan is, im not bashing hiS Plan, but its a little bit different, and i have a real outline, and you can trust me on these issues that you feel so strongly about. Former president Donald Trump issued an ominous warning on Social Media over the weekend, threatening to prosecute and imprison those he claim cheated in the election. The former president warned that people would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, which will include longterm Prison Sentences, adding his threat excepted to lawyers, political operatives, donors, and corrupt election officials. Trump made it clear he plans on going after his opponents if hes elected, claiming the 2020 election was rigged despite there being no evidence that the election was rigged. The judge issued the ruling On Friday after trumps attorneys asked him to postpone the sentencing which was scheduled for next week, september 18th, allowing them to appeal a pending ruling involving president ial immunity. The sentencing will now take place on november 26th. Judge merchan wrote this.
