Innovations in 3D printing have the capacity to stimulate the creativity of robotics engi-neers. This was the message behind the French National Research Agency (ANR) project MuFFin, led by Jonàs Martínez, a researcher with the MFX team (a joint undertaking involving Inria and Loria). It was through his research in materials science that the Lille-based Inria team Defrost was able to develop a robot with unique capacities.
